Suri, the daughter of actors Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, has officially stepped into the spotlight with her theatrical debut at one of the world’s most celebrated arts festivals.
The 20-year-old appeared on stage Thursday as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, performing in “Midsummer!,” a modern, queer-inspired adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
The production is presented by students from Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, where Suri is currently studying.
For the performance, Suri took on multiple roles, including Helena, the fairy Mustardseed, a flute, and a seed, according to the Daily Mail.

Dressed in a yellow blouse paired with a purple corset, matching skirt and a pillbox-style fascinator, she embraced the playful tone of the 90-minute production.
The show, described by its creators as “bursting with queer transformative joy,” is being staged during a 13-day run at the Edinburgh Fringe, giving audiences a chance to see the next generation of performers showcase their talents on one of theater’s biggest international stages.
According to audience members, Suri made an impressive first impression.
One attendee described her performance as “incredible,” adding, “She genuinely stole the show, she was excellent.”
Another audience member praised her versatility, telling the Daily Mail, “She threw herself into and completely stole the show. She can sing, she can dance and she is an incredible actress — all credit to her.”
A third theatergoer admitted they were pleasantly surprised, saying that despite assumptions sometimes made about children of celebrities, “she proved us all wrong.”
Suri shared the stage with eight fellow Carnegie Mellon students during the production.
The university’s appearance at the festival carries special significance, as Carnegie Mellon traces its roots to Scottish-American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
According to the show’s program, bringing the students to Scotland is a way of returning the institution’s creative work to its origins while allowing emerging artists to perform at one of the world’s premier arts festivals.
The performance marks another milestone for Suri, who graduated from New York City’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in 2024 before enrolling at Carnegie Mellon.
Suri Stays Out of the Public Eye
She has largely stayed out of the public eye while focusing on her studies. Last week, reports revealed that she had legally changed her name to Suri Noelle, using her mother’s middle name as her surname.
Despite growing up with two internationally famous parents, Suri has reportedly embraced a typical college experience.
She lives in a standard dormitory with a roommate while pursuing her theater education in Pittsburgh.
The Edinburgh Fringe appearance is her first major stage production outside the United States and represents an exciting step in what could become a promising acting career.
