George Clooney’s riverside estate in Berkshire was impacted by flooding as the Thames swelled beyond capacity after weeks of rain. The Daily Mail reports that the riverside property in Sonning, owned by Clooney and his wife Amal, sits along a stretch of the Thames that has been heavily affected.
Rising Thames Leaves Clooney’s £10M Garden & Tennis Court Underwater
GettyThe report stated that the parts of the garden and tennis court were left underwater as rising river levels pushed into the surrounding land. The Mirror UK states that the Grade II-listed home is believed to be worth between £10 million and £12 million. Images from the area show water covering large portions of the grounds. Flood Alerts Issued Across Berkshire & Oxfordshire
The BBC reported that Authorities have urged residents across Berkshire and parts of south Oxfordshire to remain vigilant as river levels stay dangerously high.
A government website advised locals to “be prepared.”
For Henley, Remenham, Medmenham, and the surrounding tributaries, officials said: “Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected to continue over the coming days, especially in the Henley area.
‘Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high over the next few days and remain responsive to further rainfall.'”
Flood warnings were also issued in Remenham, where Russell Brand owns a riverside property, and in Wargrave, home to former “Strictly Come Dancing” star Debbie McGee.
Russell Brand and Debbie McGee See Flooding Near Homes
Water has spread across the grounds of Brand’s Berkshire home, a one-acre riverside property overlooking the Thames. As per a report in The Mirror, he bought the estate in 2016 for £3.3 million. Brand now spends much of his time in Florida, where he relocated in 2024 with his wife, Laura Gallacher.
McGee’s home appears to have been hit harder. Photos show floodwater pressing in around the property. She previously suffered major damage in 2024 when the Thames overflowed.
At the time, a friend told Daily Mail: “Debbie’s had a terrible time. When her home was flooded in January, the water went very quickly, and just as she finished all the work to sort things out and get herself straight, it flooded again.”
McGee and her late husband, Paul Daniels, had installed a pumping system to prevent future flooding. During the 2024 surge, however, the system was overwhelmed by the rising water.
Clooney’s Sonning Home Among His Global Properties
Vancouver Sun reported that Clooney bought the Sonning estate in 2014 and moved in two years later after completing extensive renovations.
The riverside property features nine bedrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a large terrace, a private boathouse, and a 12-seat cinema.
Beyond Berkshire, Clooney and Amal maintain homes in Lake Como, Italy, a vineyard estate in Brignoles, France, and a residence in Los Angeles.
As rain continues to fall across the UK, river levels remain under close monitoring. For now, the usually peaceful riverside neighborhoods of Berkshire are confronting the impact of another surge from the Thames.
