(Photo by Theo Wargo/Getty Images)In “Jay Kelly,” Clooney plays a world-famous actor facing a late-career reckoning while traveling across Europe with his loyal manager, portrayed by Adam Sandler. The role, co-written by Baumbach and Emily Mortimer, mirrors aspects of Clooney’s own career, offering him a tailor-made part. Mortimer also makes a small appearance in the film as Kelly’s stylist.
The Netflix-backed dramedy is screening in competition at Venice, positioning it as a major awards contender. Both Clooney and Sandler are expected to receive Oscar buzz for their performances.

The pair made a statement as they traveled into the city by boat, showing off Riviera-inspired summer looks before making their formal appearance at the world premiere.
The Oscar winner kept his look classic in sunglasses, a black short-sleeve polo, and beige slim-fit pants, paired with a brown belt and matching suede loafers.
He also sported his signature salt-and-pepper hair, a return to form after briefly dyeing it brunette for his Broadway run in “Good Night and Good Luck”.
“Jay Kelly” is set for a U.S. theatrical release on November 14, before streaming on Netflix beginning December 5.
