‘SNL’ Writer Gives Heartbreaking Update on Missing Sister

“Saturday Night Live” writer Jimmy Fowlie shared a heartbreaking update on his missing sister, Christina Lynn Downer, who authorities previously said has not been heard from since late 2025.

In a new post shared to his Instagram page on April 29, Fowlie confirmed Downer is “no longer alive,” sharing that the LAPD has “officially transitioned” the case from a missing person to a homicide investigation.

The writer first posted about his sister’s disappearance back in December 2025, with a public plea for help locating her. At the time, the LAPD said she was last reached via text message by a friend on December 10, with her last known location being Koreatown. “She has not been seen or heard from since,” they said at the time.

New Details Emerge In Case

“Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable,” Fowlie added in his new statement, before sharing some new details about the investigation.

“We have reason to believe that in the weeks before she went missing, her phone and social media were compromised,” he wrote. “The individual(s) in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money, and to create a false narrative that she was going ‘off the grid.'”

He said he was sharing this new information to “amplify her story in the only way I know how,” as he believes the person responsible “is hoping to erase her in every way possible.” Fowlie said he also hoped to “express that she was a beautiful person who matters in this world, especially to me.”

“I also believe there is a chance that someone who knows something might find the courage to step forward,” he concluded. “My sister can no longer advocate for herself, but I can and I hope you will too. The best way you could support me in this moment is to share this post and to talk about her story.”

He also captioned his post: “thank you for all your continued support during this terrible time. I’m gonna take a step back from social media due to the intense overwhelming feelings. Please take any info you may have directly to LAPD and not me.”

Fowlie also shared several photos of himself with Christina, from their youth into adulthood.

Friends and Fans Share Support

Fowlie’s comments were flooded with messages of condolences, support and sympathy.

“Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix wrote, “we are heartbroken and hoping christina receives the justice she so deserves. sending you all the love we have ❤️”

Her co-star Scheana Shay added, “Absolutely devastating. I’m so sorry Jimmy. Praying that justice is served here as she deserves!!”

“Hacks” star Johnny Sibilly also wrote, “I’m so sorry Jimmy. Sending you and your family so much love right now. 🫂❤️‍🩹”

“Aww i’m so sorry to hear this Jimmy. Much love to you and your family,” shared comedian Fortune Feimster, before former MTV VJ Dave Holmes added, “Oh dear god I’m so sorry.”

In addition to writing for SNL since Season 48—helping create the “Domingo” sketch in the process—Fowlie co-wrote Netflix’s 2024 Christmas special “A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter” and has appeared on shows including “The Other Two” and “English Teacher.”
