Jordyn Woods Had One Relatable Request Before Karl-Anthony Towns Proposed

Jordyn Woods wanted to make sure she was ready for the cameras whenever Karl-Anthony Towns decided to propose.

Before Karl surprised her with an engagement ring on Christmas Eve 2025, Jordyn had given the New York Knicks star one important beauty instruction.

“She always said, ‘If you ever do it, I better have my hair done,’” Karl told Vogue while discussing their engagement and wedding.

Fortunately, Karl found a clever way to ensure Jordyn was prepared without completely revealing his plans.

Karl Kept Asking About Her Hair

Jordyn said the proposal remained a surprise to her and the people closest to the couple. However, Karl repeatedly asked whether she had gotten her hair styled before the big night.

“None of us had any clue,” Jordyn said. “But Karl kept asking if I’d had my hair done.”

Although she did not know exactly what Karl was planning, the fashion entrepreneur sensed something special could be coming.

“I’m a very intuitive person, so my antenna was up,” she explained.

Jordyn decided to wear a white dress she already owned. Karl proposed at Overstory, a rooftop bar in New York City.

“The proposal was very personal,” she said. “I tend to be very shy, and he knew exactly what was perfect.”

The couple announced their engagement on Christmas Day with a joint Instagram post captioned, “Marry Christmas.”

Karl Designed the Engagement Ring

Karl personally helped design Jordyn’s approximately 15-carat De Beers engagement ring.

Jordyn originally envisioned herself wearing a different diamond shape, but Karl selected an emerald-cut center stone. The finished design changed her mind.

“Now, I can’t imagine having anything else,” she told Vogue.

The ring features a gradient of pink diamonds along its band. Karl also incorporated their birthstones and the birthstones of their late parents, giving the glamorous design a deeply personal meaning.

Inside the band, Karl had the words “I love you, my heart” engraved in Spanish using his own handwriting. The message honored his Dominican mother, Jacqueline Cruz, who died in 2020 following complications from COVID-19.

“The ring looks like a glacier on her finger,” Karl said.

Friendship Became the Foundation of Their Romance

Jordyn and Karl began dating in 2020 after developing a close friendship.

Both have credited that friendship with creating a strong foundation for their romantic relationship. They supported one another through deeply personal losses before eventually becoming a couple.

Karl has previously praised Jordyn for remaining beside him during difficult moments, including the death of his mother and his recovery following a car accident.

Jordyn, whose father died in 2017, has similarly discussed how their shared experiences with grief strengthened their connection.

Jordyn and Karl Are Married

Less than eight months after announcing their engagement, Jordyn and Karl married during a star-studded ceremony in Malibu on August 15.

The outdoor celebration overlooked the Pacific Ocean and featured white floral arrangements. Jordyn wore a strapless white wedding gown, while Karl selected a classic black tuxedo.

Guests reportedly included Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, Michael B. Jordan and several of Karl’s Knicks teammates.

Jordyn’s perfectly styled hair also ensured that the beauty rule she established before the proposal continued straight through to their wedding day.
