Kelly Osbourne is standing strong for both her father’s legacy and his beloved hometown.
Weeks after the passing of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, the television personality took to Instagram to defend Birmingham, the city where her dad’s career began, showing just how deeply proud she remains of the place and the man who inspired millions.
Kelly Osbourne Speaks Out After WWE Star’s Comments
On Monday, August 25, WWE star Becky Lynch made comments about Ozzy Osbourne, who died on July 22. During the live broadcast of RAW, Lynch said she wasn’t going to be wrestling in Birmingham, the hometown of the Black Sabbath singer.
Lynch told the crowd, “The only good thing that came outta here died a month ago.” The crowd was booing as she spoke.
The Women’s Intercontinental Champion went on to say, “But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”
On Tuesday, August 26, Kelly Osbourne posted on her Instagram Stories in defense of her father. Osbourne called Lynch a “disrespectful dirtbag,” and that “Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire.”
Osbourne went on to shame the WWE for allowing such things to be said about her father and his home.
One Final Concert in Birmingham
Ozzy died on July 22 at 76. His death came just weeks after he performed his final Black Sabbath concert from a throne in Birmingham’s Villa Park. That final show raised $190 million for charity.
At that show, Kelly got engaged, and she shared the touching moment with her fans on Instagram. In the video, fans got to see Slipknot musician Sid Wilson get down on one knee, showing her the engagement ring. Kelly’s family can be seen in the background, including Ozzy.
After his death, his family released a touching statement saying, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Weeks after Ozzy’s death, Kelly thanked her fans for their love and support during this difficult time. She wrote, “I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever feel like enough.. but from the bottom of my heart, thank you. The love, support, and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain.”
