Lorna’s announcement comes after John battled cancer for three years. He was diagnosed with stage three cancer in 2023, People reports. He did enter remission earlier in his cancer journey, but shared that the cancer had spread in 2024, requiring him to undergo surgery. The couple updated fans on social media about John’s health journey, a decision he made to share.
In the Instagram announcement for John’s passing, Lorna shared a photo of him smiling while on vacation. He looks so happy. She wrote a heartbreaking message, revealing that John had died at home in their bed on February 11. “My beautiful, brave John died yesterday. I am heartbroken. We were together to the very end, at home, in our own bed and holding hands which is exactly what he wanted,” she wrote. “The last conversation we had I asked him how he was feeling and he replied ‘rough but in love’ and that was so him, to the point and choosing to put aside his fears to make me feel cherished and loved.”
Lorna continued, “John and I were so grateful to the district nurses who came daily to support us and make him comfortable. Anna was his favourite nurse and the kindness she showed him was beyond, she was a real life angel. We couldn’t have had those last few days together at home without that care and my mum who has been with us keeping me strong when I needed to stay strong for John. John you are a class act and I will love you forever.”

Lorna and John were married for 16 years and had no kids. John was also 21 years older than Lorna, and the couple was open and honest with fans about their age-gap romance, often sharing sweet videos on Instagram that showed how they kept their spark alive or what a day in their lives looked like.
