Sheriff’s Issue Urgent Request in Search for Nancy Guthrie

As Savannah Guthrie and her family continue to hold out for hope amid her mother Nancy Guthrie‘s mysterious disappearance, the law enforcement agency in Arizona tasked with finding her has just offered a new clue that points to how little they have to rely on right now.

The request comes just two days after the agency was forced to remind the public that calling 9-1-1 and its non-emergency line are “not the appropriate venue” to express their views about Nancy Guthrie’s missing persons case.

“We respectfully ask that only actionable tips be submitted through one of the following channels: 1-800-CALL-FBI, 88-CRIME, 520-351-4900, or tips.fbi.gov,” the sheriff’s statement shared on social media read.

Nancy Guthrie went missing on Feb. 1 after she failed to show up at a friend’s house to watch a virtual church service. Since then, various news outlets received a ransom note, but authorities have not gotten any closer to finding the 84-year-old.

According to multiple reports, a man was detained and questioned for hours before he was released without any charges. The detainment came not long after authorities released security camera footage of a masked man at Nancy Guthrie’s home.

But now the sheriff’s department appears to be back at square one, asking the public for help.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Request

On Thursday, February 12, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued yet another desperate plea to the public.

In a statement shared on social media, the agency states, “Investigators are requesting any video showing vehicles, traffic, pedestrians, or suspicious activity from Jan. 1–Feb. 2, 2026, near E. Skyline Dr. & N. Campbell Ave. (2-mile radius).”

A separate statement shared on its website, the agency also states, “The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is urgently requesting your assistance in locating Nancy Guthrie, 84, who [was] last seen on the evening of January 31, 2026, at her residence near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue.

“If you have any information, please contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520)-351-4900, 88-Crime, or use the attached QR code to submit any piece of information that you feel may be helpful.”

‘We Will Never Give Up On Her’

On Thursday morning, Savannah Guthrie took to her Instagram account and shared throwback footage of her with her beloved mother.

“our lovely mom,” she captioned the post with a yellow heart emoji. “we will never give up on her. thank you for your prayers and hope.”

Earlier this week, Savannah Guthrie shared four photos of the suspect in the abduction of Nancy Guthrie.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors, including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual date located in backend systems,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement.

He added, “Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”

According to NBC News, no press briefings are scheduled to update the public on the case at this time. The network added that a press conference will be called when there is a significant development.
