One of Matt Clark’s final public moments turned into a full-circle reunion with a familiar face. The late “Back to the Future Part III” actor recently connected with his former co-star Michael J. Fox during a special fan event, just months before his passing at age 89.

Clark and Fox reunited at the Dallas Fan Expo, where the cast celebrated the 40th anniversary of the “Back to the Future” franchise. According to TMZ, the two caught up backstage before Clark later joined the rest of the cast onstage for a Q&A, marking one of his last appearances tied to the iconic film series.

Clark portrayed Chester the bartender in the third installment, set in the Old West version of Hill Valley. His character memorably witnessed the showdown between Marty McFly, played by Fox, and Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen, making him a small but recognizable part of the beloved franchise.

A Career Spanning Western Classics and Hollywood Staples

While many fans remember Clark for “Back to the Future Part III,” his career stretched far beyond one film. He built a decades-long presence in Hollywood, especially within the Western genre.

Clark appeared in films including “The Outlaw Josey Wales,” “The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean,” “Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid,” and “Jeremiah Johnson,” often working alongside stars like Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and Robert Redford, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He also took on roles in “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension” and made appearances across television in series like “Bonanza,” “Kung Fu,” “Dynasty,” and “Grace Under Fire.” His final on-screen role came in the 2014 film “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”

Reflecting on his love for Westerns, Clark once shared in a past interview, “I just loved ’em… Just like you always wanted to do as a little kid, you put on chaps and boots and tie on spurs that jingle when you walk.”

Remembered as an ‘Actor’s Actor’ by Family and Peers

Following news of his passing, tributes highlighted Clark’s dedication to his craft and the impact he left on those he worked with. Director Gary Rosen described him as “the utterly unique character player who made every scene he appeared in memorable,” adding, “He leaves the stage, but his performances will be remembered forever.”

Clark’s family also reflected on his life and career, describing him as an “actor’s actor” who felt grateful for his journey. They shared that he “died the way he lived, on his terms,” per TMZ.

From Western classics to a memorable role in one of Hollywood’s most iconic franchises, Clark’s legacy continues to live on through the characters he brought to life, with his performances remembered long after his final curtain call.
