Jamie Foxx Heaps Praise on Best Actor Michael B. Jordan: ‘You Deserve Two Oscars’

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx has heaped praise on Michael B. Jordan following his first win at the 98th Academy Awards on March 15.

Jordan walked away from the ceremony with the Best Actor gong for his incredible performance(s) as the Smokestack Twins in Ryan Coogler’s 2025 vampire horror movie “Sinners.”

Foxx’s own Best Actor win came in 2005 when he took home the accolade for his fantastic portrayal of soul musician Ray Charles in the 2004 biographical music drama movie “Ray.” That same year, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for playing Max Durocher in the 2004 action thriller film “Collateral” (though he lost out on that one to Morgan Freeman for his role as Eddie “Scrap-Iron” Dupris in the sports drama flick “Million Dollar Baby”).

Foxx, who is also a comedian, singer, and film producer, took to his Instagram account multiple times on March 16 and 17 to share with his 17.3 million followers just how proud he was of Jordan for his win.

Jamie Foxx Hails ‘Amazing Actor’ Michael B. Jordan

The first of Jamie Foxx’s six Instagram posts about Michael B. Jordan’s Best Actor win was a video of Jordan being announced as the winner by Adrien Brody.

Foxx’s caption on the post read, “I can barely breathe right now… you were absolutely incredible in this film. An amazing actor, an amazing director — truly all of the above. Tonight we celebrate you: your talent, your mystique, and your incredible passion for the craft.”

His caption continued, “Honestly, you deserve two Oscars for this one. When I sat down to watch the movie, I already knew it was going to be special the moment I saw a pair of Jordans on screen. Then the first line — “Are you guys twins?” and you hit us with, “No… we cousins!” — man, I was locked in from there.”

The caption concluded, “Congratulations, my brother @michaelbjordan You’re operating in rare air right now. Celebrate it to the fullest… and trust me, the after-party is going to be crazy.”

Foxx Expressed ‘How Proud’ He Is of Jordan

Jamie Foxx’s second post about Michael B. Jordan winning his Oscar was a video of Jordan’s acceptance speech.

Foxx captioned that one, “Words can’t express how proud I am of you. You deserve this and so much more. Congratulations my brother @michaelbjordan 🙏🏾❤️.”

There were four subsequent posts by Foxx about Jordan’s win, the next of which was a video showing more of Jordan’s acceptance speech. Foxx captioned that one, “God is good all the time and all the time God is good @michaelbjordan.”

The next one was a video showing intriguing parallels between Jordan’s performance as drug dealer Wallace in “The Wire” and his Oscar-winning portrayal of the Smokestack Twins in “Sinners.” That one was captioned, “Addressing by his new name, Academy award winner @michaelbjordan.”

In the next post, Foxx posted a video of Jordan winning an Actor Award, followed by a compilation of his best performances, including Adonis Creed from the “Rocky” franchise and Erik Killmonger from 2018’s “Black Panther.” The simple caption on that one read, “🔥🔥🔥 @michaelbjordan.”

Finally, Foxx posted a photograph of Jordan with his Oscar, standing next to Ryan Coogler holding his. Coogler won for Best Original Screenplay for “Sinners.” Foxx captioned that one, “What’s better than one Oscar? 🏆🏆”

Per IMDb, Foxx and Jordan have shared the screen together previously. They both starred in Destin Daniel Cretton’s 2019 biographical legal drama movie “Just Mercy.”

In the film, Jordan plays young lawyer Bryan Stevenson, while Jamie Foxx plays Walter McMillian, a man wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to death row whom Stevenson defends.

Clearly, they’ve remained friends since their time working on the movie, and Foxx is incredibly proud of Jordan — and so he should be.

We’d like to send our congratulations to Michael B. Jordan for his Best Actor Oscar win. It’s undoubtedly thoroughly deserved.
