CNN confirmed the traffic stop that resulted in a subject’s detention occurred in Rio Rico, a town about an hour south of Tucson, Arizona, and just nine miles from the Mexican border.

According to TMZ, the detained individual is not a relative of Nancy Guthrie.

While the person has not been charged, ABC News confirmed “there’s no indication that the person who was detained is the figure seen in the newly released video footage.”

The Latest in Nancy Guthrie’s Disappearance

Tuesday morning, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department released photos and videos obtained from Guthrie’s doorbell camera. The images shows a masked individual seemingly tampering with the camera in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 1—the day Guthrie was reported missing.

“We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” Savannah Guthrie pleaded as she reshared the suspect’s photos.

She added, “Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”

FBI Director Kash Patel announced, “Law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”

FBI presence multiplied in the neighborhood of Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, Annie Guthrie, and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, in the hours after the release of the Nest data.

“Law enforcement is going door to door around the neighborhood of Nancy Guthrie’s other daughter, Annie’s home. There is at least one official here with the Pima County Sheriff’s department and another person with the FBI,” reporter Jacob Owens shared via X from the scene.

Reporter Brian Entin, who has been on the scene in Tucson since Guthrie was first reported missing, later revealed, “The FBI’s elite hostage rescue team is in Tucson, sources tell me.”

  1. Well if the person that they have detained was involved in this kidnapping and y’all have him and with his mother in-law giving up his name to the whole world has definitely put Ms, Nancy’s life in jeopardy especially if those that has her see this. I’m thinking the mother in-law knows more than she’s saying…. And knows where she’s at….bring her in for questioning too .lie detector too.
