‘The Blind Side’ Actor Reveals Emotional Recovery Milestone as ICU Exit Nears

Quinton Aaron revealed a major step forward in his recovery months after suffering a spinal stroke.

“The Blind Side” actor, 41, told TMZ that doctors removed his tracheal tube — a significant milestone after weeks in critical condition — and discussions had already begun about transferring him out of the ICU.

Aaron Is Able to Talk Again

With the breathing tube gone, Aaron said he regained pieces of normalcy that once felt uncertain.

He returned to talking, drinking juice, and has even started to sing again.

Along the way, he embraced a new mantra: “Stronger and better than ever.”

Aaron suffered a spinal stroke in January and remained hospitalized in “very serious condition” in the weeks that followed, according to a source close to his family at the time.

In a previous statement to PEOPLE, Aaron said, “I went through a lot, but I’m focusing on God, my recovery, my family and close friends as well as my career.”

His family later confirmed that he was “awake, fully alert, interacting with his family and approved visitors.”

They shared that he was able to speak with relatives and regularly FaceTime and text with his closest friends, adding that he was “feeling strong and empowered.”

Encouragingly, Aaron regained feeling in his legs.

As part of his rehabilitation, he practiced writing, worked on puzzles and focused intently on rebuilding his strength step by step.

Aaron Is Looking Forward to Getting Out

Beyond the physical improvements, Aaron also addressed recent “spiritual wedding” drama that had surrounded him.

After coming off life support and enduring such a frightening ordeal, he said he looked forward to being single and concentrating on his goals without additional stress.

He described surviving the experience as feeling like God had given him a “brand-new lease on life.”

Aaron’s brother Jarred previously commented on his estranged ex Margarita Aaron.

In a joint family statement, they said, “We don’t entertain fraud.”

As previously reported, the family alleged Margarita presented herself as his legal wife to medical staff.

Aaron later admitted he was “disappointed” to learn she was still married to another man.

Leaning on family and close friends played a central role in his recovery, and he said the ordeal helped him reevaluate relationships, cutting ties with people who no longer served him.

As doctors began conversations about moving him out of intensive care, Aaron’s outlook appeared optimistic.

According to his family, he was “excited about the future opportunities life will present to him.”
