Actor Quinton Aaron is opening up about his recovery journey nearly three months after surviving a spinal stroke that briefly left him on life support.
Speaking on “Good Morning America,” the actor reflected on the experience and the road ahead, sharing a sense of quiet determination and hope as he continues to focus on healing and regaining his strength.
Determined to Walk Again Sooner Than Expected
Aaron shared that doctors have outlined a broad timeline for his recovery, but he remains focused on taking each step forward in his own time.
“The doctors projected that it could take months, it could be a year, or up to a year,” he said. “I said, ‘I don’t claim that time frame. I’ll be walking a lot sooner than you think.’ That’s just how I believe.”
Reflecting on the experience, Aaron acknowledged how deeply it has reshaped his outlook on health and self-care.
“I started paying attention to my body because I found out over the years,” he added, “it was speaking very disrespectfully to me, and I was ignoring it.”
A Personal Challenge Unfolded During Recovery
GettyWhile continuing his recovery, Quinton Aaron also faced an unexpected development in his personal life related to his marriage to Margarita DeLeon, whom he married in December 2024.
During the time he was in a coma, it came to light that her previous marriage had not been legally finalized, which meant she was unable to take part in key medical decisions on his behalf.
“That’s what eventually led to the doctors removing her from around me,” Aaron said, as quoted by ABC News.
Aaron shared that he had long believed her divorce was finalized, later describing the situation as a moment that prompted reflection.
“If I had a chance to do it over, I would have done my due diligence,” he said. “I would’ve definitely done a lot more research.”
DeLeon said she only became aware that her previous marriage had not been legally finalized after the issue was brought to her attention, describing the moment as unexpected.
“When I told Quinton back in the hospital bed, and I want to be very honest about this, I feel like this needs to be said and brought out there,” she said, as quoted by E! News.
“I said to him, I said, ‘Baby, this information that your family pulled up on me, you know, I wasn’t aware of it.’ I said, ‘This is what I found out. It is true.'”
As Quinton Aaron continues his recovery, his attention remains on rebuilding his strength and focusing on the path ahead after a life-altering experience.
