‘Blind Side’ Actor’s Family Shares Update & Reveals Cause of Hospitalization

Actor Quinton Aaron, best known for his heartfelt portrayal of Michael Oher in the 2009 Oscar-nominated film “The Blind Side,” is currently hospitalized after suffering a spinal stroke, his family confirmed in a statement with TMZ.

The sudden medical emergency has brought an outpouring of concern and support from fans and colleagues alike as Aaron — who recently celebrated personal milestones — remains in care and continues to show signs of strength amid a difficult recovery process.

The family gave an update on Thursday, January 29, where they revealed the latest with Aaron’s condition.

They revealed Aaron suffered from a spinal stoke and is currently “alert, aware, and recovering.”

A spinal stroke occurs when blood flow in your spinal cord is stopped, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

The Family’s Statement

Aaron’s family gave a lengthy statement regarding his current condition.

“We acknowledge that you’ve heard about Quinton Aaron‘s condition. We appreciate the overwhelming love, support and prayers that Quinton has received over the past few days from his fans, the public, and our concerned community,” the statement continued.

As there had been rumors regarding his condition, the family asked for the public to only listen to specific representatives, and they would be taking legal action against those who are spreading misinformation about Aaron’s condition.

“We kindly ask the public to please respect the decisions we make and to please understand that false information or statements may be made by others who continue to come forward but are not fully informed or aware of all of the facts surrounding his condition nor are they authorized to do so,” it added.

The family continued to thank fans for their outpour of support and well wishes for the actor.

Aaron Was Previously on Life Support

The 41-year-old actor was rushed to a hospital in Atlanta after collapsing in his home earlier this month, according to reports.

In the days leading up to the incident, Aaron had been experiencing discomfort and pain, and he lost feeling in his legs while walking up stairs — a moment that prompted his wife, Margarita Aaron, to call 911 and have him transported to medical care.

His wife has been by his side throughout his hospital stay, providing updates and expressing cautious optimism about his progress.

“He’s a fighter,” Margarita told TMZ, noting that Aaron has shown signs of improvement, including regaining some movement and briefly opening his eyes during his hospital stay.

Aaron first rose to international fame for his breakthrough role in “The Blind Side,” where he portrayed a young man whose life was transformed by the support of a caring family.

The film’s success solidified Aaron’s place in Hollywood and endeared him to audiences around the world.

Over the years, he has continued acting in film and television, earning admiration not only for his performances but also for his off-screen warmth and advocacy.
