Unlike many other award shows that feature an In Memoriam tribute to fallen stars, the Golden Globes does not typically do this. The award show does share a list of stars who have passed away on its official website, but it has never been commonplace to speak about them. However, this year is different, and after the tragic passing of beloved filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, on December 14, 2025, many are expecting a tribute. But how will this work?
Nikki Glaser Addresses Rob Reiner Tribute
Nikki Glaser will host the award ceremony again this year, which airs on Sunday, January 11, on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+. She opened up about how Reiner will be honored and how she plans to do it.
“There’s not a whole section set aside to honor everyone we’ve lost,” Glaser told USA Today. “But I have something planned that I’m going to do in my own way to just acknowledge (Reiner) and celebrate him in my own way.”
She continued, ”I knew (Reiner), but not that well. I’m not going to linger on it too much because I think that’s what we’ve been doing for the past few weeks. But obviously, I thought if something happened to me and Rob Reiner was hosting a show, given our relationship, how would I want him to handle it? I think I landed on something that I feel he would do for me, too.”
Reiner and Singer were killed in their Brentwood home. The “When Harry Met Sally” director was 78, and his wife of over three decades was 70. Their middle son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested on murder charges and is behind bars awaiting trial.
Stars Who We Lost in 2025
Fans said goodbye to some incredible talents in 2025, including many entertainment industry legends. They include Robert Redford, Val Kilmer, director David Lynch, Diane Keaton, Gene Hackman, and, of course, Reiner.
Glaser’s comments do not reveal much about her tribute, but she understands she needs to approach the situation with sensitivity. She shared in her interview with USA Today that discussing celebrity deaths needs to be done in a “delicate” way.
For those hoping to tune in to the Golden Globes, it starts at 8 p.m. ET. Categories to look out for this year include Best Motion Picture, Best Screenplay – Motion Picture, and Best Original Score – Motion Picture. “One Battle After Another,” “Sentimental Value, “Sinners,” “Hamnet,” “Frankenstein,” and “Wicked: For Good” have the highest nominations. For television, the series with the top nominations are “The White Lotus,” “Adolescence,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and “Severance.”
