Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Stephenie Meyer first released “Twilight” in 2008, and it became a global phenomenon, with Meyer releasing a total of four books in the saga, three of which were adapted into movies.
And now, on the 20th anniversary of the first book, the saga is set to hit theaters once again.
Lionsgate posted a video on Instagram, revealing that the movies starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner will be rereleased in theaters in October.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that it will be in theaters from October 29 to November 2, with a movie playing each day, and “each movie will also include approximately 10 minutes of roundtable panel discussions with Meyers; producer Wyck Godfrey; Gillian Bohrer, former Lionsgate co-president, production; Erik Feig, former co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group; and producer Karen Rosenfelt.”
“Twilight fans are some of the most passionate anywhere, making this iconic movie franchise the epitome of a modern-day classic which Fathom Entertainment is thrilled to help bring back to the big screen in this special cinematic engagement,” chief executive officer of Fathom Entertainment Ray Nutt told the outlet. “With our partners at Lionsgate, we celebrate 20 years since Stephenie Meyer’s first “Twilight” book was published and encourage fans to relish The Twilight Saga.”
“Twilight” tells the love story of Bella Swan, who was played by Kristen Stewart, and Edward Cullen, who is portrayed by Robert Pattinson, after she discovers he is a vampire. Their relationship goes through many ups and downs, with Swan’s friendship with Jacob, who is portrayed by Taylor Lautner, also playing a major factor.
Twilight Saga Movie Soundtracks Set to be Rereleased
The Hollywood Reporter further adds that Warner Music Group is also set to rerelease the movie soundtracks for “Twilight“, “New Moon,” and “Eclipse” on Oct. 31. And with that, they will also have their first-ever national tour, Twilight in Concert. It will travel to 60 cities across the U.S. from Sept. 12 to Nov. 30.
‘Twilight’ Director Reveals “Every Studio In Town Turned This Down’ When Idea Was First Mentioned
During an appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” Watchalong podcast, “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke reflected on how big this franchise came to be.
“Every studio in town turned this down,” she said. “MTV and Paramount, they put it in turnaround. Everyone said we weren’t making this. Even when I started on the job, they said, ‘You know, “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” was a popular book for girls. It made $29 million. That’s probably all this movie can ever make.’ Of course our opening weekend was $69 million and we made $400 million overall. Nobody could predict it!”
