‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Denise Richards has secured a key legal win. While her divorce proceedings continue, a judge ruled that she is not financially responsible for her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers’ debt.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, a Los Angeles judge denied a request from a debt collection agency that sought access to Richards’ income and assets to satisfy what Phypers owes.
The motion was denied “without prejudice,” meaning it could be revisited at a later stage, but for now, Richards is not obligated to cover the debt.
Debt Collector’s Claim Rejected
GettyThe debt collector, Creditors Adjustment Bureau, had argued that Richards should be held responsible for the outstanding balance, even after the couple’s separation in July 2025.
Page Six also reports that the company filed its motion in September 2025, seeking to access Richards’ earnings to satisfy the debt. The court, however, rejected that argument, finding that the financial obligation belongs solely to Phypers.
The judge noted that Richards did not incur the debt and therefore cannot be held responsible for it.
The ruling also made clear that she is not “subject” to the debt, as it is not tied to her individual financial activity.
Details of Aaron Phypers’ Reported Debt
GettyPhypers’ financial situation has drawn attention in recent years amid ongoing legal matters.
According to the Page Six report, he was sued in 2022 over an unpaid loan, resulting in a default judgment totaling $228,000.
In court filings related to the divorce, Phypers outlined debts totaling roughly $850,000, including unpaid rent, loans, and legal expenses, according to multiple reports.
He also requested temporary spousal support as part of the proceedings.
Divorce Proceedings Continue Amid Legal Challenges
The couple’s divorce continues to move forward alongside several legal challenges.
People reported earlier this year that Phypers was granted temporary spousal support, with Richards ordered to pay $5,000 per month, as well as $30,000 in attorney’s fees.
The proceedings have also involved serious allegations.
Richards was previously granted a permanent restraining order after accusing Phypers of abuse during the marriage, claims he has denied.
Separate from the divorce, Phypers is also dealing with ongoing criminal charges and other legal matters. As the case continues to unfold, the court’s recent ruling brings clarity to one key issue, confirming that Richards will not be held financially responsible for her estranged husband’s debt.
