K. Michelle is opening up with honesty about the long road she has faced after cosmetic procedures that continue to affect her health years later. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star shared that she is still dealing with serious complications linked to silicone injections she received in 2012, a decision that has led to multiple surgeries and an ongoing effort to regain her health.
Star Recalls Frightening Moment Before Major Performance
Michelle shared that her health struggles became especially overwhelming just before she was set to perform at the 2024 Academy of Country Music Awards, a moment that should have been celebratory.
“I was standing there in a bathrobe. Everyone was blow-drying me down, just to get me on stage to sing,” she said, as quoted by The Daily Mail.
Looking back, she grew emotional as she spoke about the lasting impact of her decision, reflecting on the years of complications that followed.
“I just hate that I did this to myself. It’s the worst thing I ever did to myself, and I’ve paid for it for years,” she said.
‘I Will Never Be Fully Healed’: Living With Lasting Effects
PeacockMichelle explained that the most serious health issues stem from silicone that spread through her body after the initial procedure. “The actual thing that has made me sick isn’t the BBL. It’s the injections I got involving silicone,” she said.
She added that despite years of corrective procedures, the damage cannot be completely undone.
“The hardest thing for me was learning that no matter what I do and how many surgeries, I will never get that silicone out of my body. It will be forever in me.”
She added, “I will never be fully healed.”
A Decade-Long Journey to Reclaim Her Health
PeacockMichelle has spent nearly a decade undergoing repeated surgeries to remove infected tissue and address the damage caused by the injections. This process has taken a significant toll on her body. At one point, her condition became so severe that she required blood transfusions.
“It’s the scariest thing in life, and I’m a tough girl. I had these lumps, and I was very disfigured,” she shared in 2024.
Looking back, Michelle said her decision was rooted in her desire to project a certain image.
“I wanted to look like a Coke bottle,” she said.
She later revealed that the procedure was not performed in a medical setting, a choice she now reflects on with concern. “He wasn’t a doctor. It was black market, it was these “hydrogel” injections – that’s what they were being called,” she explained.
In the years since, Michelle has chosen to speak openly about her experience, including documenting her journey in the Lifetime series “My Killer Body with K. Michelle.“
Now appearing on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” she continues to focus on her recovery while also embracing a new chapter in her music career.
