“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards continues to stand by her former castmate and close friend, Teddi Mellencamp, during her ongoing fight with cancer.
Teddi’s Fight With Cancer
Teddi was initially diagnosed with melanoma in 2022 after Kyle noted a suspicious mole on her back. The cancer eventually metastasized to her brain and lungs, resulting in chemotherapy and radiation treatment and over 15 surgeries, according to PEOPLE.
In late July, the former “RHOBH” cast member revealed that doctors gave her a 50/50 prognosis.
Teddi took to her podcast on October 3, where she opened up to “RHONJ” star Dolores Catania about her battle with Stage 4 cancer. “At this point, there is no detectable cancer,” Teddi said.
Teddi took to her Instagram story where she held a Q&A session for her fans.
During the Q&A, she opened up about her struggles with immunotherapy, admitting that her energy levels go up and down all the time. “Some days are definitely better than others,” Teddi wrote. “And you don’t see all the times I’m laying in bed unable to do much. Don’t be afraid to let people know how you’re feeling and don’t feel guilty if you need to rest.”
Her energy levels have also impacted her work schedule with her podcast, Two T’s in a Pod, which she co-hosts with “Real Housewives of Orange County” cast member, Tamra Judge. “I am taking it week by week right now with how I am feeling,” she said. “Y’all know I love doing it, but I have to listen to my body.”
Teddi used her Instagram story to share another update with her fans on November 11, where she filmed herself working out on her exercise bike. “I have been feeling terrible,” she said. “New goal is 20 mins a day.”
Kyle & Teddi Are Closer Than Ever
Kyle shared that Teddi’s battle brought them closer together, as well as their separations from their husbands, Mauricio Umansky and Edwin Arroyave, respectively.
“You know, and just going through what she’s gone through, [it] just brought us even closer,” Kyle said in an exclusive interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “I mean, what I was going through first, and then what she was going through with her separation, and then having this curveball come at her, like, this was just really mind blowing, you know, to think that someone that you’re so close to and love so much is going through something so scary.”
“It really did just bring us even closer, and I just love and appreciate her so much,” Kyle concluded.
