Teddi Mellencamp shared a deeply emotional tribute to her former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” co-star Kyle Richards, reflecting on the pivotal role Richards has played during what have been incredibly challenging years amid Mellencamp’s cancer journey.
For those who have followed Mellencamp’s health journey, Richards was the one who urged her to have a mole checked back in 2022. Doctors later discovered stage 2 melanoma, which ultimately spread to her brain and lungs and progressed to stage 4. Despite the diagnosis, Mellencamp has remained strong and revealed on her “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast in October 2025 that there is currently “no detectable cancer,” though she continues with her treatment plan.
Teddi Mellencamp’s Sweet Tribute to Kyle Richards
Former RHOBH star Teddi Mellencamp took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to her close friend Kyle Richards. Alongside two photos of the pair together, Mellencamp reflected on their tight-knit bond, describing it as a “sisterhood,” and how grateful she is for Richards’ support during her health journey.
“They say there’s a reason for everybody who comes into your life. For @kylerichards18, there’s more than a reason; there’s a purpose,” she began.
“From the moment we met on the show, there was a natural connection. But now, after everything, there’s a sisterhood that can’t be broken. I’m so grateful for the support, encouragement, and love that you bring no matter what life throws our way.”
“I probably wouldn’t be writing this if it weren’t for you. Happy birthday, Kyle. You deserve the best year yet ❤️” Mellencamp ended her caption.
Mellencamp and Richards first met when the former made her debut on RHOBH in 2017. They would go on to have an incredible friendship that continued even when Mellencamp departed the series after season 10 as a full-time cast member.
In the comment section, “Real Housewives” stars like Melissa Gorga wrote, “A good friend is hard to find❤️” RHOBH star Erika Jayne shared, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love you both.”
Mellencamp & Richards’ Close Bond
GettyMellencamp and Richards share an unbreakable bond. In a November 2025 interview with The Daily Dish, Richards opened up about their long-lasting friendship, revealing that the two grew even closer as they each navigated separations from their husbands.
“You know, and just going through what she’s gone through, [it] just brought us even closer,” Richards shared.
“I mean, what I was going through first, and then what she was going through with her separation, and then having this curveball come at her, like, this was just really mindblowing, you know, to think that someone that you’re so close to and love so much is going through something so scary,” she added.
“It really did just bring us even closer, and I just love and appreciate her so much.”
While speaking to USA Today, Richards encouraged Mellencamp to attend BravoCon 2025 that same month. It was just weeks after Mellencamp revealed that there was “no detectable cancer.”
“She was really nervous to go to BravoCon because she said, ‘You know what, I don’t have the energy,’ and I said, ‘Everyone gets the energy once you’re in Vegas; it’s contagious,'” the Housewife said.
Having a friend who never lets you face life’s hardest moments alone makes all the difference.
