Teddi Mellencamp Shares Uplifting Post Following Her Cancer Journey
On New Year’s Day 2026, Teddi Mellecamp reflected on what may have been her toughest year yet as she battled stage 4 melanoma. Looking back at 2025, the former “Real Housewives” star acknowledged the many challenges she faced, while also expressing gratitude for the unwavering support from family and friends as she looks ahead to the year to come.
Mellencamp shared several highlights of 2025 on Instagram, including photos of her at the hospital, ringing a bell to mark the end of treatment, and snapshots with her former RHOBH co-stars, Kyle Richards and Erika Jayne, as well as her best friend and podcast co-host, Tamra Judge.
“2025 was not my year. Near-death has that effect on you,” she wrote. “But as I close it out, I’m trying my best to be grateful for every moment that I’ve been blessed to have been given since.”
She continued, “I’m not sure what 2026 will hold, but I know that I will never stop sharing with you the good, the bad, and the ugly. Being open and vulnerable helps me cope; and hopefully helps even one of you know you’re not alone in what life has you facing.”
Mellencamp ended her caption by urging her followers to “get those skin checks.”
Mellencamp Shared That There Was No ‘Detectable Cancer’
While speaking on her “Two Ts In A Pod” podcast in October 2025, Mellencamp shared a very positive update about her cancer journey. Speaking with RHONJ star Dolores Catania, she revealed, “At this point, there is no detectable cancer.”
According to People, Mellencamp was first diagnosed with stage II melanoma in 2022 and underwent several surgeries and biopsies to remove melanoma spots. In early 2025, doctors discovered that the melanoma had metastasized and spread to her brain and lungs.
The daughter of John Mellencamp underwent brain surgery to have multiple tumors removed. However, additional tumors could not be removed, with her doctors hoping that immunotherapy and radiation would work. In April 2025, Mellencamp shared that her cancer had now been classified as stage 4 melanoma.
At the time, she shared, “I kinda thought that I had already beaten it. And then a couple days later, I found out I had four more tumors. So there’s so many different highs and lows.”
Treatment appeared to be working when, in October, she shared that there was no longer any “detectable cancer.” However, Mellencamp added that she still needed to continue immunotherapy for a year.
“I’m still going to be having days when I’m feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy, so I’m still fighting because you have to be,” she said. “The way (doctors) said it works, it’s like one year, then two years, then at three years, you’re allowed to be considered in remission.”
