JoJo Siwa Stunned to Tears by Boyfriend’s Unexpected Announcement

JoJo Siwa was overcome with emotion when her boyfriend, Chris Hughes, surprised her during an E! News interview with life-changing news. Ahead of the Dancers Against Cancer Gala in Los Angeles on Oct. 21, the 22-year-old singer learned on camera that she would be honored with the organization’s Humanitarian Award later that night.

In the clip, which Siwa later reposted on Instagram, Hughes revealed the announcement while sitting beside her, catching the “Dance Moms” alum completely off guard. “Wait, actually?” she said in disbelief. “I’m in shock right now.”

The 32-year-old “Celebrity Big Brother U.K.” alum, who will present the award to Siwa himself, told her, “I’m gonna be a proper mess onstage.” Siwa smiled through tears, replying, “I know I shouldn’t be laughing right now, but you’re so cute.”

Dancers Against Cancer (DAC) recognized Siwa for her continued advocacy and generosity toward the dance community. In a statement, the nonprofit praised her for helping raise awareness and funds for dancers, choreographers, and educators affected by cancer. “JoJo’s philanthropic efforts demonstrate her dedication to the dance community that spurred her career,” the organization said.

The singer, who’s also been supported by her mother, Jessalynn Siwa, has long been involved with DAC’s mission. Just last month, she headlined the organization’s sold-out First Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Irvine, California, where she joined other celebrities to help raise more than $5 million in aid for dancers and families battling cancer.

A Full-Circle Moment for JoJo and DAC

The Humanitarian Award adds to Siwa’s long-standing partnership with Dancers Against Cancer. The nonprofit’s founder, Noah Lands, previously said the organization’s mission goes beyond fundraising — it’s about honoring fighters, survivors, and community. That message has resonated deeply with Siwa, who has consistently used her platform to amplify causes she cares about.

Her involvement with DAC throughout the year has included charity appearances, fundraising events, and public support for those impacted by cancer. Siwa’s continued presence within the organization reflects her role as both an artist and advocate — a combination DAC described as “the rhythm of hope and unity within the dance world.”

A Year of Love and New Beginnings

Beyond her philanthropic work, Siwa’s personal life has also been in the spotlight. She began dating Hughes earlier this year after meeting on “Celebrity Big Brother U.K.”, and the two have since been open about their relationship and mutual admiration. “What I realized with Christopher is I never have second guessed my feelings for him,” Siwa told E! News in June. “When I think about him, I’m full of pure joy.”

In September, Siwa revealed on the “Reign with Josh Smith” podcast that her relationship has shifted her view of love and marriage. “I’ve never wanted the future so bad,” she said. “I want a ring, I want my dad to walk me down the aisle, and I want butterflies.”

Now, with a growing partnership and a humanitarian honor to her name, Siwa is embracing this new chapter of her life with gratitude. “I feel so happy and peaceful that the love that I feel is so real,” she said.
