Choreographer and close friend Emmanuel Hurd shared an emotional tribute to Allen in a heartfelt Instagram post, remembering him as both a gifted artist and a loyal friend.

“Can’t wrap my head around this…Josh…my brotha. There are no words,” Hurd wrote. “One of the realest people I ever met. Kept it a stack every time and would make it right if you fell short. A real King. This one hurts deep.”

Hurd also found solace in the thought that Allen is now reunited with another dear friend from the dance world. He added that Allen is “with Stephen now and that brings me comfort,” referencing the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Allen’s friend and fellow “SYTYCD” alum who died in 2022.

Allen first captured hearts in 2008 when he won season 4 of “So You Think You Can Dance,” instantly making him a fan favorite. His big victory opened doors in Hollywood, where he went on to shine as a featured dancer in “Step Up 3D” in 2010 and later joined Oxygen’s “Dance Your Ass Off.” He also brought his talent to the big screen with a role in the 2011 remake of “Footloose.”

Beyond film, Allen’s career expanded into television, where he appeared in commercials and popular shows like “Community” and “American Horror Story.” Each performance highlighted his versatility as a dancer and actor, leaving a lasting mark on audiences who admired his energy.

Shortly after his win, Allen spoke with Entertainment Weekly about his future.

“I do want to be a recording artist. I want to choreograph and hopefully own my own studio and company,” he said in 2008. “As my ultimate goal, I want to own my own record label, and be a producer — things like that. But I also want to model.”

His passion for dance and ambition to branch into music and production left fans inspired, even as his life was tragically cut short.
