‘American Ninja Warrior’ Made Some Big Changes For Season 17

“American Ninja Warrior” introduced some changes for Season 17’s Finals, and it’s succeeded in making each episode even more exciting. One of the biggest changes has been the location of the Qualifiers, Semifinals, and National Finals. While they used to take place in different locations around the country, now every round takes place in Las Vegas.

“It heightened the competition, because everyone is on top of each other, and they’re not spread out from city to city to city,” ‘American Ninja Warrior co-host Akbar Gbajabiamila told Neon. “They’re sharing notes. They’re all getting ready.”

The other big change is the Finals’ bracket-style tournament and head-to-head races.

“It’s no longer you versus the course, and ‘Can you complete all the obstacles now?’ It’s ‘Can you complete all the obstacles faster than your opponent?'” Finalist Daniel Gil told NBC Insider. “And gosh, let me tell you, these teams are gunning for it.”
