Whitney Leavitt is stepping away from “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” as she looks ahead to a new chapter in her career. The reality star confirmed her departure during her final performance in “Chicago” on Broadway, with The Hollywood Reporter also verifying that she is no longer part of the Hulu series.
Leavitt had been a full-time cast member since the show premiered in September 2024, quickly becoming one of its most recognizable faces.
Broadway Run in ‘Chicago’ Marks Major Career Milestone
Leavitt’s exit comes on the heels of a standout run as Roxie Hart in “Chicago,” where she earned strong attention for her stage performance.
The production reached its highest recorded total during her time in the role, marking a significant milestone in her transition from reality television to live theater.
After extending her Broadway stay, her “Dancing With the Stars” professional partner Mark Ballas also joined her for several performances, adding to the buzz surrounding the show.
As she wrapped her final performance on Sunday, Leavitt reflected on the experience in a heartfelt social media post.
“Saying goodbye to the Ambassador Theatre,” she wrote, alongside a video capturing moments from her time on and off stage.
“To the ladder I’d climb, hoping no one could look up my dress,” she wrote. “To the couch we’d spill tea on. I mean, drink tea. Goodbye to the stairs I’d always fall down. This part of stage, where I got to yell at Mark Ballas. To these seats being filled every night. To these seats being filled every night. To the one time I farted here [lying on the piano] and pretended like I didn’t. Goodbye, Chicago. Thank you for everything.”
What’s Next for Whitney Leavitt After Reality TV Exit
Leavitt’s decision to leave “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” comes as she expands her work beyond unscripted television.
As she continues to expand her career, Leavitt has stepped into a new role as chief creative and brand officer at Cool Sips, a New York-based beverage brand.
In a March interview, she hinted that she was already considering stepping away from the series to focus on acting and creative pursuits.
“I’m figuring it out in real time,” she said while appearing on Good Morning America.
“We’re figuring it out together, but it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going. But again, I wouldn’t be where I am without it, but it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show.”
DisneyHer upcoming projects reflect that shift. Leavitt is set to make her feature debut in a holiday romantic comedy for Ninth House Productions, which she is also executive producing.
She is also scheduled to attend the first “Dancing With the Stars” fan convention in Palm Springs later this summer.
