Whitney Leavitt Reveals If She’ll Return to ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’

Whitney Leavitt is riding high on her Broadway success, but when it comes to her future on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” she’s keeping things open-ended.

During an April 8 appearance on “Good Morning America,” the “Dancing with the Stars” alum addressed whether she plans to return to the hit reality series following her record-breaking run in “Chicago.” “We’re figuring it out in real time. I don’t really know,” she said. “I feel sometimes that it’s like time to venture out. Like, this is what I’m passionate about.”

Leavitt, 32, is currently starring as Roxie Hart in the long-running Broadway production, which recently hit its highest-grossing week in the show’s decades-long history. Her run was extended due to what the production described as “overwhelming demand.”

Broadway Success Marks a Turning Point

Leavitt’s Broadway moment comes as a full-circle career move after her time on “Dancing with the Stars,” where she competed alongside pro dancer Mark Ballas. The two are now reunited on stage, with Ballas joining “Chicago” for a limited engagement as Billy Flynn.

Looking back, Leavitt admitted she never imagined the opportunity would come so quickly. “I probably would have been like, ‘You’re crazy. What? How?’” she said on “Good Morning America.”

She described her character Roxie as “sassy, impulsive, and always just, like, learning,” adding that she relates to those traits herself. Behind the scenes, the transition to live theater has also come with its challenges. Leavitt shared that things don’t always go perfectly on stage, recalling a moment when she forgot a line mid-performance. “I couldn’t remember my next line, so I was like, ‘I’m a star,’” she said. “You just, you gotta roll with it,” per ABC News.

Despite the pressure, Leavitt made it clear that performing is where she feels most fulfilled right now.

Looking Ahead Beyond Reality TV

Leavitt previously opened up in a March interview about her evolving career and desire to expand beyond reality television. Reflecting on her journey, she said her decision to use “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” as a stepping stone ultimately paid off. “It’s definitely validating. I’d be lying if I didn’t say it feels good,” she told Interview Magazine.

She added that she is now focused on breaking into scripted projects, revealing she auditions frequently. “I’m grinding. I send in an audition almost every day… I want to put in the work,” she said.

At the same time, uncertainty surrounding the Hulu series continues. Production on season five was halted after domestic violence investigations involving cast member Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex Dakota Mortensen, according to People. While Leavitt has largely stayed quiet, she briefly addressed the situation, saying, “The safety of human beings, especially children, comes first.”

For now, Leavitt is embracing her current chapter while leaving the future open. “I just don’t know what that future looks like, especially right now,” she said in her March interview.

Still, her long-term goal remains clear. “I want to be a movie star, baby.”
