Three-time “Survivor” player Andrea Boehlke has revealed a strange tactic that players on the show use to keep warm during the cold nights. According to the former reality television series star, those competing on the series often cuddle to share bodily warmth and avoid being negatively affected by the freezing temperatures.
Andrea Boehlke Explains How Players Would Cuddle to Keep Warm on ‘Survivor’
Boehlke made the admission while appearing on Chris Johnson’s podcast “Passion Pod.” The pair discussed the uncomfortable things that contestants have to do when on “Survivor” and delved into the topic of how cuddling is an effective and essential strategy for those taking part.
When asked by host Johnson about what the most uncomfortable thing she had to do to stay warm, Boehlke explained how important cuddling at night was. The ex-contestant revealed that it became an essential part of their routine as the shared body heat would keep them warm.
Explaining just how cold it can get in the locations where the show is filmed, she was quick to point out that cuddling with her fellow cast of players to share body heat was something she accepted that she had to do.
“In Nicaragua it was so cold you’re shaking and freezing,” she said. “We all know that body warmth is the best warmth, so you would actually kinda cuddle together.”
She continued by saying that she was lucky enough to get to snuggle up with some good-looking people so that made the situation less miserable. She said, “Well, I got lucky because on my season, I did get to cuddle up to attractive men.”
“I was really fortunate,” Boehlke elaborated. “I mean, I just had to cuddle with Matt Elrod, and you know Eddie from my second season, who happened to be attractive but I never had to cuddle with Phillip. You know I cuddled with the girls too.”
Podcast host Johnson then asked if she would ever cuddle up with Phillip Sheppard, to which Boehlke was quick to dismiss. The two contestants had a frosty relationship on the show, having both appeared in “Survivor: Redemption Island” and “Survivor: Caramoan,” where they were each part of separate alliances and often butted heads.
Andrea Boehlke Reveals Jeff Probst Rapped to Eminem to Pump Up Players
On the same podcast, Boehlke also revealed that host and showrunner Jeff Probst once tried to pump players up before filming began on a new season by rapping the entirety of Eminem’s hit “Lose Yourself.”
“Is this real? Or did I make this up, because it seems fake,” Boehlke said. “Before we played ‘Redemption Island,’ we all went to this clearing, and Jeff came out with a boom box.”
She continued, “Now we’re not allowed to talk [at the time]. And he has us all go in a big circle around him. So he wanted to pump us up because the season before, two people had quit the show. So they were very much like, ‘You need this. You want this. No quitters.’”
“So he has us all in this circle, and he turns the boom box in, and he starts rapping ‘Lose Yourself’ from Eminem. He sings the whole song and is encouraging people to dance along.”
“We were all like, ‘This is Jeff Probst. We’re about to play Survivor. Let’s go,’” she explained. “And so some people are dancing, some people are really uncomfortable, and then, shortly after that, we are on the beach, ready to play.”
