From the world of music to the world of sports and beyond, it seems like nearly every celebrity has weighed in on the recent engagement between pop icon Taylor Swift and NFL superstar Travis Kelce on August 26.
Even “Survivor” legend Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano offered his heartfelt congratulations to the couple. Just hours after Swift and Kelce announced their engagement, Mariano took to Instagram to celebrate the momentous occasion with a throwback photo of his own proposal to his now-wife Amber Mariano (formerly Bkrich) in 2004.
Mariano Has the Perfect Reaction to Taylor Swift’s Engagement
Widely considered the greatest love story in “Survivor” history, Rob and Amber’s paths first crossed on the cast of “Survivor: All Stars” where their alliance-turned-showmance took CBS audiences by storm. Hand-in-hand and side-by-side the couple dominated the competition together, outwitting, outplaying and outlasting all the other castaways to become the Top 2 players of the season. During the live finale, which Amber ultimately won, Mariano got down on one day to pop the question.
Mariano uploaded a photo of the romantic moment to Instagram following Swift and Kelce’s engagement with the caption: “May your torches always stay lit! Congratulations @taylorwift @killatrav #1300Post!”
Fans Fall in Love with Rob’s Legendary On-Screen Engagement All Over Again
Fans in the comments were quick to call out the parallels between the two iconic engagements.
“Before Taylor and Travis there was Rob and Amber,” wrote influencer Victoria Garrick Browne, while another fan added, “The crossover I never knew I needed!”
“But which one of you knows how to ball, and which one of you knows Aristotle?” responded “Survivor 46” runner-up and Swiftie superfan Charlie Davis in the comments, referencing Taylor’s song “So High School,” which was featured in the post announcing her engagement to Kelce.
Getty“Boston Rob being a Swiftie was not on my bingo card but I am HERE FOR IT,” added another fan.
Despite the widespread excitement surrounding Swift’s recent engagement, other fans in the comments took the opportunity to honor Rob and Amber’s legendary romance.
The couple, who recently celebrated their 20-year anniversary, have welcomed four daughters together since getting married in 2005: Lucia, Carina, Isabetta and Adelina.
“I remember this,” wrote one fan, referring to the throwback snaps of Mariano and Bkrich’s engagement, “favorite season of survivor and my favorite couple.”
Another added their well-wishes to Swift and Kelce, writing, “Hopefully Travis and Taylor have a long fulfilling marriage like you and Amber!”
