“Survivor 50” just ended, but fans are already getting hyped for the next season.
During the May 20 finale, host Jeff Probst dropped the first trailer for Season 51 of the CBS competition series. Dubbed “the open era of ‘Survivor,'” Probst promised high stakes to come.
The footage gave viewers a look at the contestants, challenges, and twists galore—and at least two of the castaways might be recognizable to fans of “Grey’s Anatomy” and the WWE.
‘Survivor’ Season 51 Sneak Peek Revealed
During the Season 50 finale, Probst confirmed that Season 51 has already been filmed, calling it “very fun.” He also teased that anything “that has ever happened at any time on the show can happen in any season at any time in any order without any warning.”
In the trailer, Probst gave some more insight into the dynamics at play with his voiceover.
“A new crop of players is about to birth a new kind of game. And this one has no boundaries,” he said. “For the first time ever, our entire history, every advantage, every idol, every twist we’ve ever done, 50 seasons of ‘Survivor,’ is in play.”
He added that “dangerous new elements never seen before” will also be part of the season, calling it a “a shape-shifting game, changing without warning, creating permanent uncertainty.”
“It’s the open era of Survivor,” he concluded.
The footage, meanwhile, showed the castaways jumping off a boat to bring supplies to shore, helicopters, and new Immunity Idol challenges.
Survivor 51 Cast Revealed
CBS hasn’t officially announced the full cast, though two people featured in the trailer are pretty recognizable for their pop culture contributions.
Among the castaways are Devin Way (pictured above), an actor who appeared as Dr. Blake Simmons for eight episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” from 2019-2020, and starred on the 2022 “Queer as Folk” reboot for Peacock. Currently, Way stars on Tyler Perry’s BET series “Sistas.”
“This is what the people have been begging for!” Way exclaims in the trailer.
Also appearing in the footage is former WWE NXT superstar Brady Booker, who wrestled under the name Bodhi Hayward.
“I haven’t remembered a game start like this for eons,” he says in the teaser. “I mean, you gotta kick it back, I think, to almost the single digits.”
Season 51 Follows All-Stars Season
The new crop of castaways follows “Survivor 50,” which celebrated the show’s landmark run by filling its cast with fan favorites from throughout its 26-year run.
The finale saw it all come down to Aubry Bracco, Joe Hunter, and Jonathan Young, after Tiffany Ervin and Rizo “RizGod” Velovic were eliminated earlier in the 3-hour special. While Tiff was voted out, Rizo was eliminated in the fire-making challenge.
His exit, however, made headlines after host Probst accidentally revealed Rizo would lose the challenge during the live finale, before it was actually shown to viewers.
In the end, Bracco came out on top with eight votes, winning the $2 million prize. Young followed, with three votes, while Hunter didn’t receive any.
