Former “Survivor” star and fan favorite Rob Cesternino has spoken about what he might have done if he was offered the chance to appear on “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” as well as season 4 of “The Traitors.” Both reality television series were filmed at the same time, making it impossible for any figure to appear in both.
But with Cesternino being such a popular “Survivor” castaway, there was always a chance he could have been asked to return for season 50, putting him in a dilemma about what he would choose.
Rob Cesternino Talks About ‘The Traitors’ and ‘Survivor’ Season 50
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly following his elimination from the fourth season of “The Traitors,” Cesternino discussed what he would have done if he had to choose between appearing on one of the two series.
When asked about what he might have done if he was invited to “Survivor” season 50, Cesternino discussed how difficult the decision would have been as he loves both shows and the opportunities they afford.
He said, “You know, that would’ve been really hard because ‘Survivor’ is my heart, as you know. But ‘The Traitors’ I think is such a great opportunity. And so I’m very fortunate that I didn’t have to make that choice.”
The interviewer then pushed Cesternino to make a definitive decision rather than sitting on the fence, which prompted him to reveal that he would ultimately have chosen “Survivor.”
“I think I would’ve said yes to Survivor, considering that it’s ‘Survivor 50,’ and I think I would’ve hoped that ‘The Traitors’ came calling another time,” he explained.
Cesternino then went on to reveal that CBS had been in touch with him about appearing in the special 50th anniversary of “Survivor.”
Yes. I was in the mix for ‘Survivor 50,’ and I was very excited,” Cesternino said. “I had said I wanted to go, but ultimately, they found a great cast of 24 other people, and I had the other amazing opportunity to go participate on ‘The Traitors,’ so I was very happy.”
Rob Cesternino Has Remained Active in the ‘Survivor’ Community
While he hasn’t appeared in the show since his second appearance in “Survivor: All-Stars” in 2004, Cesternino has remained active has also written a book about “Survivor” called “The Tribe and I Have Spoken” that delves into the lore and behind-the-scenes of the show.
“I’m so excited to announce ‘The Tribe And I Have Spoke,’ my love letter to the show that has given me everything,” wrote Cesternino in an accompanying post on Instagram following the live announcement. “I can’t wait for you to read it.”
