As this season’s undisputed challenge beast, many fans are convinced Savannah’s all-but secured herself a spot at Final Tribal Council, especially if she can pull out back-to-back Immunity challenge wins in the finale.

The feat would establish Louie as the first woman in “Survivor” history to win five Individual Immunity challenges in a single season – But will she also walk away with the $1 million grand prize?

For now, only time will tell. Until then, here’s five fast facts you need to know about “Survivor 49” finalist Savannah Louie.

1. Savannah Louie Is a Former Breaking News Anchor

While Savannah Louie discussed her former career as a breaking news anchor at length on “Survivor 49,” some fans will be surprised to hear that the California native – now living in Atlanta, Georgia – was once willing to “do just about anything for a good story.”

After attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, Savannah landed her first broadcasting job as an intern for CBS 11 News in 2016. From there, Louie continued to climb up the ranks, working as an audio technician, a camera operator, and technical director before scoring her first on-air gig as a reporter for San Antonio’s KENS 5 news network.

By 2021, Savannah was working full time as a news anchor for Atlanta News First, providing locals with updates on everything from breaking news to sports coverage.

“My decision to pursue journalism was fueled by an intention to make the world a better place,” Louie said in a recent Instagram post, adding, “We can’t foster change in our community without being aware of WHAT is going on in our community.”

While Savannah has since left the world of broadcast journalism, opting instead for a career in marketing, she added that “working as a journalist [was] more fulfilling than I ever dared to dream.”

2. Savannah Louie Is an Avid Solo Traveler

Well before she boarded a flight to Fiji to film “Survivor 49,” Savannah Louie had made a habit of globe-trotting.

“I’m a big solo traveller!” she told Entertainment Weekly in a pre-season press interview. “Some of my favorite memories include overnight camping in the Sahara Desert, running with the bulls in Spain, clubbing in Berlin, and the four-day Salkantay trek in Peru.”

Louie added that she began her independent adventures when she was just 20 years old, making the decision to set out on her own after being unable to lock down a travel buddy to join her.

“Life’s too short to wait for others to be ready for your adventure,” she declared.

3. Savannah Louie Is Dating Software Engineer Brandon Stiles

Savannah Louie may need to readjust her planning for future adventures, however, to include space for her longtime boyfriend, software engineer Brandon Stiles.

The couple “hard-launched” their relationship in May 2024, with Brandon posting a tribute to the current “Survivor 49” frontrunner in celebration of their one-year anniversary this spring.

“One year ago today, I went on a first date with a stunning, whip-smart, witty & fiery woman – a bright light in every room she walks into,” he wrote in the caption. “Didn’t know then I was sitting across from someone who’d come to feel like home. From 3-week trips after 3 months, to crash courses in fine dining and slow coffee mornings – you make everything so much better. Thanks for going to a second location with me that night, lol. Love you babe. Happy one year.”

While Savannah’s been busy filming and preparing for “Survivor 49” – and a rumored follow-up run on “Survivor 50” – her boyfriend’s been busy launching a patient portal for Talkiatry, a company that offers online psychiatric care.

4. Savannah Louie Says Her Parents Are Her Biggest Inspiration

At just 31, Savannah Louie’s done plenty to establish herself as not only a major threat on “Survivor 49,” but also an accomplished woman in the real world.

According to the castaway, she owes a lot of her current success to her parents, calling them her “biggest inspiration.”

“I have so much respect for both of them,” she told EW. “We didn’t grow up with much; my parents were young when they had me, but they made sure my brother and I could access everything we needed to succeed. They put our sports, our academics, our music, and all of our other extracurriculars before their own needs. Today, they run a successful business thanks to their hard work and big dreams. They are badass!”

5. Savannah Louie Started Preparing for ‘Survivor’ at 17

Savannah Louie’s childhood spent playing after-school sports has certainly helped her dominate on “Survivor,” winning several Immunity and Reward challenges throughout the season thanks to her “under-the-radar” physical prowess.

But it’s not just her background as an athlete that’s prepared her for a successful run on the competition series. According to Louie, she’s actually been preparing for “Survivor” since her teenage years.

“I started watching before I could really understand what ‘Survivor’ was,” Savannah told CBS News after she’d been announced as part of the Season 49 cast. “And I’ve always loved the show ever since I was like, you know, this tall, right? So the first time I applied, I was 17 years old.”

While she didn’t land a spot on the hit CBS series until 14 years later, Savannah continued to train, preparing her body, mind, and spirit for the toll that she knew “Survivor” would take.

Fans can check out Savannah’s run-down of her pre-season training regimen in the TikTok video above!

Be sure to tune in to the “explosive” three-hour finale of “Survivor 49” on CBS, tonight, Wednesday, December 17, at 8:00pm ET, to see if Savannah Louie can emerge victorious as this season’s “Sole Survivor.”
