“Oh no, I am so sorry. I’m so glad she had you to guide her and make sure she advocated for herself,” one person shared after seeing the news.
Katie Thurston’s News About Her Mom’s Breast Cancer Prompted Love From Fellow ‘Bachelorette’ Stars
On January 19, Thurston took to Instagram to reveal her family’s latest news. She included several photos containing highlights of special moments she has shared with her mom and provided details on the situation.
In the text on the first photo, Thurston wrote, “My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago. But it wasn’t her doctors who discovered it.”
Thurston shared that she had traveled to her hometown of Seattle, Washington, to attend her mother’s first post-diagnosis doctor’s appointment with her. She also went into detail about how her mother’s cancer was initially missed.
“I hate that we have to be our biggest advocate but also, it’s what will save your life,” she wrote.
In response to Thurston’s news, former “The Bachelorette” Becca Kufrin commented, “I’m glad she has you, keep advocating for each other. You both know what’s best for one another, and you both got this.”
Another previous lead for “The Bachelorette,” DeAnna Pappas, added, “Wow. I’m so glad you shared your knowledge! We have to advocate for ourselves.”

Someone else wrote, “You saved your mom’s life. I’m so sorry she’s going thru this, and you too. Here for you.”
On “The Bachelor” subreddit, a fan wrote, “I’m not a religious person, but I can’t help but want to say some type of prayer for them or just send well wishes. My heart just hurts so much for them. All I can say is I hope and pray they kick cancer’s [expletive].”
Another Redditor added, “Horrible. So much Katie has had to deal with. So unfair.”
“God, haven’t they been through enough? I’m so gutted to hear this. So unfair,” someone else on Reddit wrote.
