Michael Rapaport Shares His 1 Regret Before ‘Traitors’ Banishment

Michael Rapaport was banished from “The Traitors” in season 4, episode 5, and if he could have done things differently at the round table, he would.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly shared on January 20, the actor shared that he should not have told Colton Underwood, “No one in this room would be better at holding a secret than you.”

Some of the cast assumed Rapaport was alluding to Underwood hiding his sexuality for most of his life, which the “True Romance” star denied.

“I felt that they didn’t understand what I was saying. And I think that if the conversation had stuck to just me and Colton, it wouldn’t have gotten to the level that it got to, because I feel like I acknowledged it and apologized right there,” Rapaport told the outlet.

He continued, “I regret that it went to that point. I like Colton. I actually had a great time with him on the set. I probably had the most intimate and personal conversations with him up until that moment. But I did think he was a Traitor. Just things got a little bit out of hand.”

“I do regret that it hurt his feelings. I do regret that it offended him … And I wish I had used different words. I wish it never happened,” Rapaport said.

Rapaport Said He & Underwood Spoke After the Episode Aired

According to Rapaport, he and Underwood made amends after filming season 4 of “The Traitors” concluded. “As soon as production ended, I DM’d him. And we FaceTimed, and I told him what I meant. We had a very private, grown man conversation that wasn’t tenuous, that wasn’t dramatic. We laughed, we talked,” Rapaport told Parade.

“And he actually also reached out to me the day after that episode aired. He touched base with me, which I told him I really appreciated. And there’s no beef. There’s no more than what it was. It happened, and I regret it,” he added.

Underwood Responded to Rapaport’s Comment at the Round Table

Underwood may have initially felt taken aback by Rapaport’s words, but he’s not letting it get to him. “He apologized towards the end, like, ‘I didn’t mean it,’ so I have to take him for his word. I’m not holding a grudge against him, but I do think it is important for me in my life at this point to start standing up for myself,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

The “Bachelor” alum teased that a further conversation would be had, stating, “Him and I have exchanged a conversation that, for right now, is being kept private. And obviously, we’ll have to see each other again at the reunion. So there will definitely be a lot for us to talk about then.”
