It’s hard to tell who’s more excited about the release of the new song “Where Is Your Heart” on May 8, 2026. Featuring music legend Dionne Warwick, 85, and EGOT-winner John Legend, 47, the new duet was clearly a joy and honor for both artists.
Legend, who just wrapped up coaching season 29 of “The Voice,” shared on social media how much he adored Warwick’s music when he was growing up. Warwick, meanwhile, revealed how thrilled she was when he agreed to collaborate on the new tune, which will appear on the final album of her 65-year career, according to a press release.
Dionne Warwick Says She Was Thrilled When John Legend ‘Immediately’ Agreed to Record With Her
Warwick will release “DWUETS” on August 7. The album features duets on all-new songs written by 17-time Oscar nominee and Special Oscar recipient Diane Warren — including the tune with Legend.
In a statement, Warwick recalled how Legend “immediately said ‘Yes!’ when I called asking if he would be part of this project. If I’m honest, I let out a real squeal.”
She added, “Recording with John in itself was a pleasure! Having the opportunity to work with those who are professionals in the business is a joy; I’m still sporting the grin on my face from that day and our recording sessions.”
The cover art for “Where Is Your Heart” was created by Marcus Glenn, the official artist of the 56th Grammy Awards, including the album cover and individual single covers. Eventually, each piece of art will be auctioned off.
John Legend Performed a Dionne Warwick Hit at His ‘Very First’ Talent Show
In a social media video posted by both Legend and Warwick on May 8, Legend recalled, “I first met Miss Dionne Warwick back in 2019. She was making a special guest cameo appearance in a song I did with my nephew, Tay Da Prince.”
That song was “Love One Another,” and Legend said Warwick was “gracious enough to come and appear in the video.”
But Legend knew of Warwick’s talents long before that day. He said, “I remember growing up watching her on ‘Solid Gold’ and my very first talent show performance was ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ as a duet when I was in eighth grade.”
“I’m so excited to finally do a duet with her after singing a duet with her song way back when I was, like, 12 years old,” he said.
Warwick, meanwhile, remembered seeing Legend at Oprah Winfrey’s Legends Ball years before, in 2005, when he serenaded her and the other honorees with “Ordinary People.”
“He was so sweet and so kind, and it was an absolute pleasure to record with him this lovely song,” Warwick said in the new social media video, which has already drawn enthusiastic praise from fans.
One wrote in the comments, “Two eras. Two unmistakable voices. When Dionne Warwick meets John Legend, it’s more than a duet – it’s a meeting of elegance, legacy, and musical greatness. 💜✨”
Many celebrated getting to hear “two LEGENDS” collaborating, while others deemed the new song “epic” and “beautiful.” To hear the full duet on “Where Is Your Heart,” click here.
