McCartney, who is 83, created a video in Attenborough’s honor and posted it on Instagram. “I’m happy to say, ‘Happy birthday’ to Sir David Attenborough, who is 100,” he said, while looking into the camera. “Fantastic achievement. The man is a legend. I love him, we all love him. His programs are incredible. The team he puts around him is incredible. So, Happy Birthday, David, you are a star.”
The musician then sings a short “Happy Birthday” to Attenborough, making for a sweet, beautiful moment. McCartney kept the caption of his post simple, writing, “Happy 100th Birthday to our friend @davidattenborough.”
Fans flooded the comment section with their reactions. Comments include a mix of birthday wishes for Attenborough and praise for McCartney and how well he is looking. “I hope you also reach 100 and widely surpass them. In response to the outpouring of love he received on his birthday, Attenborough expressed his gratitude. The naturalist’s birthday will be marked by an event at the Royal Albert Hall. It will be broadcast on BBC One, The Guardian reports.
On his birthday, Attenborough recorded a message to share his thoughts. “I had rather thought that I would celebrate my 100th birthday quietly, but it seems that many of you have had other ideas,” he said in a recorded message,” The Guardian reports. “I’ve been completely overwhelmed by birthday greetings, from preschool groups to care home residents and countless individuals and families of all ages. I simply can’t reply to each of you all separately, but I would like to thank you all most sincerely for your kind messages.”
