World-renowned English broadcaster David Attenborough celebrated his 100th birthday on May 8, 2026. Many high-profile celebrities wished him a wonderful birthday.
Recently, Hallmark alum Jane Seymour shared her own well-wishes. She publicly posted photos from her first wedding in 1971, in which David Attenborough was more than just a guest. He attended as a family member.
David Attenborough Was Once Jane Seymour’s Uncle By Marriage
Emmy-winner Jane Seymour’s first marriage was to Michael Attenborough. They married in 1971 before divorcing two years later. Michael’s father was Richard Attenborough, brother of David Attenborough.
Even though the marriage ended, Jane Seymour still has lovely things to say about her former uncle-in-law.
“Celebrating the wonderful David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. 💙” the “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” star shared on Instagram. “These photographs come from a very special chapter of my life, and it felt like a lovely opportunity to honour someone whose voice, passion, and dedication have educated and inspired so many people around the world.”
The actress attached photos from the day, with David Attenborough visible among the family members.
“David has always carried such warmth and genuine curiosity about life, people, and the world around him. It’s impossible not to admire the extraordinary legacy he continues to create. Wishing him a beautiful birthday filled with love and celebration.”
GettyIn the comments, fans shared an outpouring of love for the conservationist.

The Actress Kept in Touch With Many of Her Exes & Their Families
Jane Seymour’s marriage to Michael Attenborough ultimately didn’t work out. However, she has fond memories of her time with the family overall.
She told The Times in 2023 that she met her first husband through his father, the late Richard Attenborough. They bonded through their mutual love of theater.
“And then we got married when I was 20. Then I got the Bond film and he was working in the theatre and he sort of decided that wasn’t the world he wanted and he met someone else…” Seymour recalled, referencing her role in the 1973 film “Live and Let Die.”
“I think Michael and I realised we were too young. We grew up together. I grew up with his sisters. We all shared rooms together. And we’re still very close friends,” the actress remembered.
GettyJane Seymour went on to marry three additional times, all of which ended in divorce. But even so, she insists there isn’t any bad blood between them.
“I can think of lots of wonderful men. I’m still very, very close to all the men I was married to and every man I ever dated, to be honest,” she told The Times. “Every time I see someone I used to be involved with, even if it was for a short time, I’m close to them. You see, I think it’s hard to be with somebody who’s well known and on the red carpet.”
