Jane Seymour Reveals She’s Finally Writing Her Memoir

Jane Seymour is opening a new chapter in her storied career, this time on the page. The beloved actress and Hallmark series star revealed that she has begun writing her memoir, promising a collection of unforgettable moments from a life filled with extraordinary Hollywood encounters, personal milestones, and decades in the spotlight.

‘So Many Stories & So Many Extraordinary Things’

Seymour recently appeared at the AARP’s annual Movies for Grownups Awards in Beverly Hills. While there, the actress, 74, talked with PEOPLE and revealed she’s at work on her memoir.

Seymour said, “I’ve just started writing my autobiography, and I’ve got so many stories and so many extraordinary things that have happened that I keep thinking, ‘How did that actually happen to me?’”

In fact, a particular moment early in her career still stands out to her, and the Hallmark still can’t believe it happened.

“I came to Hollywood on an airplane, obviously, and while I was sitting there in first class, the stewardess said, ‘Mr. [John] Wayne would like you to dine with him,’” Seymour remembered. “Okay? Who comes to Hollywood as a young actress and actually sits down in a dining area on a big jet to Los Angeles next to John Wayne?”

Too Many Stories for the Book

With stories like that, you know the “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” star has even more up her sleeve to tell. She said that writing this memoir has been an “absolutely fascinating” experience so far.

With that, she said she’s coming up with so many stories that some won’t make the book. She added, “I’m trying to figure out what to do with all the material I can’t put in the book. I’m actually trying to think out of the box. I want to make sure that the book is great and it has a purpose, but then I’m trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the stories.”

Jane Seymour – Actress, Producer & Author

This new memoir by Seymour wouldn’t be her first foray into the writing world. She actually already has a prolific writing career, as she has authored several self-help books, like “Jane Seymour’s Guide to Romantic Living” and the parenting book “Two at a Time: Having Twins” with Pamela Patrick Novotny.

In 1995, Seymour welcomed twin sons with her ex-husband, James Keach. She also happened to co-write several children’s books throughout the early 2000s with Keach.

Jane has also been busy as a producer, as she will co-produce the upcoming film adaptation of “The Truth About Horses.” This is a 2023 novel by Christy Cashman, which follows Reese, a teen who yearns to win the Black Elk horse race.

Seymour first met Cashman while she was shooting her “Harry Wild” detective series in Ireland. She previously told PEOPLE she was “blown away” after reading the novel.

Seymour added, “[Christy] asked me if I’d come and do a Q&A with her at the Harvard Book Store in Boston. And I was single and free at the time, so I said, ‘Sure, I’ll come and do it. Why not?’ It was a ridiculous book signing. It was around the block. It was crazy. And I realized that this was really something extraordinary.”
