Olivia Munn Admits Facing ‘Long Hurdle’ As She Shares Emotional Update on Her Breast Cancer Journey

After revealing she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer, Olivia Munn is sharing a fresh update on her health.

In a video she shared via Instagram, the actress detailed the treatment she’d been undergoing since publicly announcing her diagnosis.

As she explained, the video was intended as the first in a series that would keep fans current on the status of her ongoing breast cancer journey.

Waiting for the Right Time

She began by addressing some of the many questions that fans have been asking her.

“I have been wanting to answer everyone’s questions about my breast cancer journey for quite a bit of time now,” the 46-year-old star of “Your Friends and Neighbors” said.

“So this is going to be my first in my series. I’ve just been waiting for like, ‘When’s the right time?’ like, ‘When do I not look exhausted?’” she added.

‘Healing for Me Too’

Munn, who received her diagnosis in 2023 but waited until the following year to publicly disclose the news, admitted that opening up about what she’d been going through was cathartic for her.

“This is healing for me too because I know that just simply talking about my breast cancer journey is going to be helpful for someone out there,” she said.

“Because every time I felt lost in the beginning of my journey, I would look online and I would see another woman talking about it, and it gave me just a little bit more hope that things would be okay,” she added.

‘Doing Really Good’

Revealing that she’s “doing really good” at the moment, Munn revealed the No. 1 question she hears is about how she’s feeling.

“Now I think most people who are going through any type of cancer can tell you that every day is different,” Munn explained.

“Sometimes you feel like you’re really on an upswing and then there are other times when you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so difficult. How is this still so hard?’” she candidly added before offering specific medical details about her treatment.

“When it comes to the medical side, I went into a surgical menopause — which I will talk about in another video — and that means I went from not being menopausal or perimenopausal to just instant menopause,” she noted.

“And not only that, but I’m on another medication called an aromatase inhibitor that shuts down testosterone production that turns into estrogen in my body,” she continued. “Those medications are very difficult.”

‘The Worst Club with the Best Members’

Munn continued by observing that the experience has been a journey for her, one that has its peaks and valleys.

“It’s the stuff we have to do after the big hurdles that are kind of like, there’s big hurdles and there’s like long hurdles. And I’m in the long hurdle right now,” she added.

“Welcome to the worst club with the best members,” she wrote in the caption for her post.

“I heard that after I was diagnosed with breast cancer and it turned out to be true. The sisterhood I’ve found of women who have battled/are currently battling the same fight are the most incredible, generous, supportive people I’ve ever met,” she added. “I’ve spoken a lot publicly about every step I’ve taken on this path and I still get lots of questions. I hope making this series to live on my page will help anyone going through this and also anyone who knows someone going through this. 🤍🩷.”
