Dylan Walsh has found himself in a spot of bother after he revealed a few details about “Heated Rivalry” Season 2. The details weren’t about the plot, but instead about the episode count.
He shared the information during a Cameo video with a fan, and that video went viral as soon as the fan shared it online. Since then, the ability to purchase Cameos from the “Gabriel’s Fire” star has been turned off.
‘Heated Rivalry’ Season 2 Episode Count May Have Been Revealed
GettyThe “trouble” started when Walsh shared that he was heading to Canada to film the second season of iconic hockey series “Heated Rivalry.” Very little information is known about the season right now, except for the fact that it will be based on the second novel from the series, “The Long Game.”
He shared that he believed the team were working on 12 episodes for the season, and this immediately got people talking when the Cameo was shared on X (formerly Twitter). Creator Jacob Tierney has stated that he only wants to do six episodes per season, saying that he would rather tighten everything up and pack as much as possible into a shorter period of time, so now, fans are curious about why the episode count would be upped to 12.
Does this mean the second season will have 12 episodes and be split into two? Will it be extra long? Or does it mean that “Heated Rivalry” Season 3 has already been ordered, and that the two seasons will be filmed back-to-back? With all this in mind, it’s easy to see why Walsh got in trouble for his “off the cuff” comments.

GettyThis is where some of the irony plays a part. As Entertainment Weekly pointed out, Rachel Reid’s second book includes a moment where a Cameo-like video goes viral. There’s a whole plot point that leads to trouble, and it almost feels like this is life imitating art.
As soon as the trouble arose, Walsh removed the ability to book videos from his account. At first, there was a note that said, “Stepping away because a video went viral that got me in trouble.” That has since been removed, but more than 500 of his fans are calling for him to come back to the platform.
Walsh told Variety that he was “speaking off the cuff” in the video and that he has no idea about the production timeline or the episode count. As he apologized to the fans for the confusion, he also confirmed that his Cameo account has been paused for the time being. He ended it with, “I’m incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding “Heated Rivalry” and proud to be part of the series.”
“Heated Rivalry” became a huge hit when it first debuted in Canada. It follows two hockey players on different teams — in different parts of the world — who find themselves falling for each other. Based on the novels by Reid, the first season ended with Shane Hollander’s dad, played by Walsh, walking in on his son kissing Ilya Rozanov, creating a dramatic jumping off point for the second season.
