The “Malcolm in the Middle” revival series, “Life Is Still Unfair,” is set to premiere in April. Now, ahead of the show’s Hulu premiere, Frankie Muniz is clarifying his previous comments about what he described as having memory loss, claiming that much of what he said has been taken out of context.
Regarding the cast for “Malcolm in the Middle: Life Is Still Unfair,” it features returners Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, Justin Berfield, and Christopher Masterson. The revival series will consist of four episodes.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Muniz first opened up about having memory loss in 2017 when he appeared on “Dancing with the Stars.” He said on the show that he’d suffered from several, specifically 9, concussions.
At the time, Muniz stated that he doesn’t fully remember the experience of starring in “Malcolm in the Middle,” which ran for seven seasons on Fox.
Frankie Muniz Says His Memory Loss Isn’t As Serious As Many Assume
GettyMuniz appeared on the “Inside of You” podcast with Michael Rosenbaum in April 2026. While on, the actor shared new thoughts on his prior comments about suffering from memory loss and how the public has perceived what he said.
Muniz said, “To bring up the memory thing a little bit — almost to clear the air a little bit — the story of that was taken out of context in a sense. All these crazy stories have come out where people are like, ‘You don’t even know your [own] wife.’
I just have a bad memory.” He went on to say that he having a bad memory doesn’t impact his career as an actor as he “can remember lines.” However, Muniz stated that he doesn’t “absorb so many things.”
He went on, “Since I was 8 years old, I have been nonstop doing things — flying here, doing that and just crazy cool things. I’ve also been an actor my whole life where every single day I’m pretending to be somebody else and having somebody else’s emotions and somebody’s happiness or somebody’s sadness or somebody’s anger or someone’s love interest.
They say ‘cut’ when you’re done with the scene, and you forget about it. You never think about it again. Then you go on to the next emotion or the next day or the next character. I almost feel like some of it has to do with the fact that like I’m so used to going, ‘Oh, I’m done with that.’ And I move on so that I don’t even take it in.”
‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life Is Still Unfair’ is Sure to Be a Hit
Hulu and Disney+ released the official teaser for ‘Malcolm in the Middle: Life Is Still Unfair’ in December 2025, months after the show had been confirmed to be in production. Now, the show is set to premiere on April 10, with all four episodes releasing at once.
According to Newsweek, the show’s premise finds Muniz’s Malcolm forced to celebrate his parents’ 40th anniversary after being estranged from them for quite some time. This also means they’ll finally meet his daughter and girlfriend.
As reported, the only main cast member from the original “Malcolm in the Middle” who won’t appear is Erik Per Sullivan, who has left Hollywood and is currently studying Victorian literature at Harvard.
