Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow sent fans into a full-on nostalgia spiral with their sweet new reunion. The longtime pals sat down together for the season 24 premiere of “Variety’s Actors on Actors,” and the heartwarming conversation gave fans everything they could have hoped for.
GettyThe two actresses, who became household names thanks to their roles as Rachel Green and Phoebe Buffay on NBC’s beloved sitcom “Friends,” dove into a candid chat about their current projects, including Kudrow’s “The Comeback” and Aniston’s “The Morning Show.”
But it was their throwback to the show that started it all that quickly stole the spotlight.
A Hilarious ‘Friends’ Memory That Still Makes Them Laugh
Mary Ellen Matthews for VarietyWhen the topic turned to their favorite scenes from “Friends,” both Jennifer and Lisa instantly started cracking up.
Kudrow brought up the unforgettable Gellers’ anniversary party episode featuring guest star Alec Baldwin, which had Aniston dissolving into laughter all over again.
Getty“The funniest was the Gellers’ anniversary party. Alec Baldwin was in that one. And there was an oyster, and Alec’s like, ‘Here, eat this.’ I’m like, ‘OK,’ and she flicked it on the floor. And then Joey comes over, and she asks, ‘You having a good time?’ He’s like, ‘No, it’s horrible. I waited forever for the buffet line. I almost slid on a giant booger!'” Kudrow recalled.
Getty“Why is it so stupid, Lisa? It’s so stupid!” Aniston giggled. “He thought that an oyster-sized booger came out of someone’s nose!” Kudrow added.
The two then turned their attention to their co-star Matt LeBlanc‘s portrayal of the lovable Joey Tribbiani.
“Oh, God, LeBlanc was so good! And he played that really not smart guy so well,” Aniston gushed, before slipping into one of Joey’s most iconic lines. “It was a moo point!”
“It’s like a cow,” Kudrow chimed in.
“It’s a moo point. Oh, God. Is this too inside baseball? It’s so entertaining for people. Just us watching ourselves,” Aniston joked.
Lisa Kudrow Admits She Skipped the Show for Years
GettyIn one of the most surprising moments of the conversation, Jennifer revealed that Lisa actually went years without watching most of “Friends.” And honestly, Aniston still can’t quite believe it.
“You’d never watched Friends. And I actually remember thinking to myself, ‘Really? How could she never watch Friends?'” she said. “Except for when we would gather in the very, very beginning, back in the 1900s. We would watch the show at one of our homes… Boy, that was really fun. That all still feels like yesterday, doesn’t it?”
Lisa explained her reasoning behind avoiding the show during its run.
“It was really fun. And then we got busy,” she said. “There were whole episodes that I hadn’t seen. I just couldn’t sit there at home and have anybody walk by seeing me watching a show that I’m in. Because it felt embarrassing to me.”
Why Lisa Finally Sat Down to Watch Every Episode
GettyYears later, Lisa finally pressed play and dove deep into the world of Central Perk. Her verdict? She wishes she had done it sooner.
“Loved it with all my heart,” she said. “I’d end up sitting there for three hours, and then it’s like two in the morning: ‘I need to go to bed! This is bad!'”
She then turned to Aniston with a heartfelt compliment. “But, oh, it made me so happy to watch it. And, man, you’re all good. Holy cow! You were really good, Jennifer. It’s such a ridiculous thing to say to people! Like, of course.”
For fans who missed the live premiere of their conversation, the full interview is available on Variety’s YouTube channel at 11:59 p.m. ET.
All 10 seasons of “Friends” are currently streaming on HBO Max.
