The Journalist Suffered a Terrifying Health Scare

Katie Couric is thankful to be back in the gym today. But this summer, she suffered an absolutely horrific health scare. She penned an essay about the medical episode entitled, “The Day I’ll Never Remember: How I suddenly lost hours of my life” on Substack.

“It was Saturday, June 27, 2026. But when I was asked the month, the year, and who was president, I got them wrong. I wasn’t sure of the month. I thought it was 2024. And I believed Joe Biden was president,” Couric began the essay.

The journalist had a lovely day attending the Aspen Ideas Festival. Up until noon, she was perfectly fine. Though she participated in two panels that day, her memory is fuzzy through about 7 p.m.

After her husband noticed her disoriented appearance, she went to the hospital. Physicians thought she possibly had a stroke, but an MRI couldn’t find evidence of any such occurrence. The medical team ultimately diagnosed Katie Couric with “transient global amnesia.” It’s a phenomenon where people can remain alert and awake, but they are unable to form new memories.

Thankfully, it appears the journalist made a full recovery. Fans wish Katie Couric many more years of positive health.
