Legendary action star Chuck Norris passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 19, just days after his 86th birthday.

His family shared the tragic news the following morning, leaving fans with questions about the actor’s cause of death.


What Happened to Chuck Norris?

The “Walker, Texas Ranger” star turned 86 on March 10 and celebrated with a training video shared via Instagram.

“I don’t age. I level up,” he captioned the post. “I’m 86 today! Nothing like some playful action on a sunny day to make you feel young. I’m grateful for another year, good health and the chance to keep doing what I love. Thank you all for being the best fans in the world. Your support through the years has meant more to me than you’ll ever know.”

Just nine days later, Norris died at a hospital in Kauai.

According to TMZ, Norris was rushed to the hospital on Thursday, March 19, after suffering a medical emergency. While the nature of the emergency was unclear, the outlet reported that “The Way of the Dragon” star was in “good spirits.”

His family clarified the sequence of events in a statement following Norris’ death.

“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace,” the statement, which was shared via Instagram, began.

They continued, “He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.”

While his cause of death remains unclear, the Norris family added, “We know many of you had heard about his recent hospitalization, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way.”


Chuck Norris Will Be Missed

Tributes and condolences flooded in from former co-stars and fans alike after news of Norris’ passing.

“I had a great time working with Chuck. He was All American in every way. Great man and my condolences to his wonderful family,” “Expendables” co-star Sylvester Stallone shared.

“I’m so sad to hear that my Karate instructor and friend Chuck Norris has passed away. He will be forever missed,” Priscilla Presley wrote.

Dolph Lundgren posted, “Chuck Norris is the champ. Ever since I was a young martial artist and later getting into movies, I always looked up to him as a role model. Someone who had the respect, humility and strength it takes to be a man. We will miss you, my friend.”
