Nicholas Brendon Remembered By ‘Buffy’ Cast In Heartfelt Tributes

The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” cast are posting their memories of co-star Nicholas Brendon. The actor tragically passed away on March 20, aged 54.

His family has stated his death was due to natural causes.

“Buffy” alums have taken to Instagram to post tributes to the beloved cast member, Page Six reported. Brendon played Xander Harris on the show.


Cast Reacts To News Of Nicholas Brendon’s Death: “My Sweet Nicky”

Alyson Hannigan, who played Willow Rosenberg on the show, posted a heartbreaking “Buffy” screenshot with a caption calling Brendon her “sweet Nicky.”

“Thank you for years of laughter, love and Dodgers,” she wrote.

“I will think of you every time I see a rocking chair. I love you. RIP.”

In an Instagram story, Emma Caulfield shared a clip from Entertainment Weekly. In the short video, Brendon describes his ultimate “Buffy” episode.

“No word [sic] yet. I love you Nicky,” Caulfield wrote.

“Let this clip of us giving it our best be a placeholder,” she said, as the clip plays a scene of Brendon and Caulfield from the show’s season 6 musical episode.

“Rest Nicky. Rest,” she concluded, posting a heartbroken emoji alongside “Anya.”

Caulfield played Anya Jenkins, Brendon’s on-again, off-again love interest on “Buffy.”

Deadline published a screenshot of a now-deleted story by Caulfield, which read “My heart is heavy. I can’t put into words just how this has hit me.”

Brendon Passed From Natural Causes, Says Family

Brendon’s family shared a statement confirming his death on March 20.

“We are heartbroken to share the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He passed in his sleep of natural causes,” the family posted to Facebook.

“Most people know Nicky for his work as an actor and for the characters he brought to life over the years. In recent years Nicky has found his passion in painting and art. Nicky loved to share his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans.”

“He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create. Those who truly knew him understood that his art was one of the purest reflections of who he was,” the statement read.

The family asked for privacy as they “grieve his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination, and heart.” They thanked fans for their love and support.

As well as playing Xander in “Buffy,” Brendon was also known for his role as Kevin Lynch in “Criminal Minds.”
