TV Judge Simon Cowell Has Stopped Working on ‘Pointless’ Fridays – The Strict Rules He Sticks To

The creator of “America’s Got Talent” and “American Idol,” Simon Cowell, revealed he’s stopped working on Fridays. The reason? He deems it to be “pointless.”

The English television personality, record executive, and businessman, 66, says he’s ditched the traditional five-day week, and now only works four, so he remains fresh for both his work and family life.

Cowell spoke exclusively to British newspaper The Sun to explain in detail exactly why he’s adopted this new mantra.

Ahead of the filming of “America’s Got Talent Fantasy League,” Simon Cowell described how he spends his newfound spare time.

“Actually, the first thing (I do) is take off Fridays. Don’t work on Fridays, because you don’t have to,” he said.

Cowell went on, “Eat dinner at five o’clock. Don’t take calls after 5.30. Don’t read emails after 5.30. Watch a happy movie. And stay outside.”

He continued, “I’m not kidding about the Fridays. I don’t think anyone should be working five days a week. It’s just pointless.”

The father of one explained how he has to be switched on when spending time with his young son, Eric. He said, “You’ve got to be absolutely focused, because they know when you’re faking it, and it’s kind of like, ‘Okay, what do you want to do today?’ ‘I want to drive 25 miles to buy a Pokemon card.”

Simon Cowell is currently working in his role as head judge on series 19 of “Britain’s Got Talent.”

Along with hosts Ant and Dec, fellow permanent judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI, and guest judges like Stacey Solomon, Cowell is looking to unearth the latest entertainment superstar from the British Isles.

The new series began airing on ITV on Saturday, February 21, and will continue until the final on Saturday, May 30.

Sources on “Britain’s Got Talent” spoke to The Sun to reveal Cowell had been banned from chewing gum on the show. The ban came after sticky leftovers were found under his desk.

The source said, “Simon is always chewing gum on set and has left producers with a real headache.”

They continued, “They tried to implement the gum ban, but telling Simon ‘No’ is a task in itself.”

Additionally, an insider revealed, “He didn’t have a clue he had gum stuck to his trousers as he walked out on stage in front of thousands of fans.”

One thing’s for sure — Cowell won’t be working any of the shows on a Friday (maybe the producers can spend Fridays removing his discarded gum!).
