Sofia Vergara missed the 2025 Emmy Awards after an unexpected health scare. The “America’s Got Talent” judge revealed on September 14 that she was rushed to the ER with a swollen eye allergy just before the ceremony.
“Didn’t make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER,” the “Griselda” star, 53, wrote in a lighthearted Instagram caption alongside a carousel of photos, including a close-up of her red, swollen eye. “Sorry, I had to cancel! Craziest eye [allergy] right before getting in the car!”
Inside Vergara’s Health Scare
In addition to the close-up, Vergara shared videos from the hospital, including one of her moaning in pain while lying in bed and another rinsing her eye at a sink. The actress, who underwent her second knee surgery in July, tried to keep the moment humorous, adding emojis to her post.
Stars Send Their Support
GettyThe comments on her Instagram filled quickly with encouragement. “Oh no! Get well soon,” wrote “America’s Got Talent” host Terry Crews, while Snoop Dogg sent a string of praying-hands emojis. Though she wasn’t nominated, Vergara had been slated to present at this year’s Emmys.
According to a September 9 press release, she was part of a starry list of presenters that included Elizabeth Banks, Angela Bassett, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Sterling K. Brown, Jennifer Coolidge, Colman Domingo, Tina Fey, Mariska Hargitay, Jude Law, Sarah Paulson, Sydney Sweeney, Jesse Williams, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Other Stars Who Missed the Ceremony
Vergara wasn’t the only name absent. “Euphoria” star Eric Dane, who revealed his ALS diagnosis in April, was also set to present but did not attend. His “Grey’s Anatomy” costar Jesse Williams took the stage alone to present the Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series award.
The 2025 Emmys, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, still brought out Hollywood’s biggest stars.
