Pop superstar Katy Perry is back on track, according to her most devoted fans. Late on November 6, 2025, the former “American Idol” judge released a powerful new breakup tune called “Bandaids” following her summer split from fiancé Orlando Bloom.
KatyCats immediately flooded social media with emotional reactions, floored by Perry’s deeply personal lyrics and heartbreaking symbolism in her music video, with a sound reminiscent of some of her earliest hits.
Katy Perry Narrowly Escapes Death in Music Video for ‘Bandaids’
It’s been a wild 18 months for Perry, including her 2024 departure from “American Idol,” the release of her widely-panned album “Lifetimes,” her heavily-criticized journey to space, a sold-out world concert tour, the end of her engagement to Bloom, and a surprising new romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In April, Perry wrote on social media, “Somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light.” In her new music video for “Bandaids,” that metaphor comes to life as she appears with cuts on her face while navigating a myriad of escalating disasters, which Slate called an homage to the “Final Destination” movies.
But, more importantly, the song clearly honors (and laments) the good and bad in Perry’s relationship with Bloom. The video begins with a gold wedding band slipping down the kitchen sink drain, with a chorus that includes the lyrics, “Tried all the medications / Lowered my expectations / Made every justification / Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow / Bandaids over a broken heart.”
After a series of death-defying moments, from evading a car collision to narrowly escaping a speeding train, Perry notices a single daisy sprouting from the ground — clearly symbolizing her and Bloom’s daughter Daisy — as she sings, “If I had to do it all over again, I would still do it all over again, the love that we made was worth it in the end.”
Katy Perry Fans Are Emotional Over ‘Bandaids’

“Its so sweet that she see her daughter as her hope and love through brokenheartednesss,” one person wrote in a comment that was liked by over 3,000 others.
Another marveled, “damn i didn’t expected katy to be so open and honest about her last relationship.. that’s beautiful!”
Someone else wrote, “the way Katy was ready to end it all after that breakup and the hate train she faced, then she sees a daisy (her daughter’s name) reminding her to never give up in life. absolute cinema.”
Fans Are Thrilled to See & Hear Katy Perry Return to Her ‘Pop Rock’ Roots
Fans were also over the moon about the sound of Perry’s new tune, harkening back to her pop rock anthems like “Roar,” “Firework,” and “I Kissed a Girl.”
One fan declared in the YouTube comments, “MY CHILDHOOD POPSTAR IS BACK ONCE AGAIN!!!” and another exclaimed, “THIS IS THE KATY PERRY WE HAVE WAITED FOR,” drawing thousands of likes.
Someone else wrote, “Welcome back Katy Perry! THIS is the musician I jammed out to as a pre teen and saw in concert. I haven’t listened to any of her music since the Prism album but I’m excited for this new era now”
“You cannot deny that this is a return to form,” another fan surmised. “She hasn’t released a single this good since the early 2010s. Bravo!”
Perry has been on tour for the last year, grossing over $80 million in ticket sales, according to Billboard. She has 11 dates left in 2025, in Europe and Asia, before a six-month break. According to her site, she’ll hit the road again in June and July, primarily playing open-air music festivals around the world.
