More than 16 years after country legend Dan Seals passed away, his music is finding new life through an unexpected collaboration. Luke Bryan has joined his voice with Seals’ on one of the country star’s biggest hits, “Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold),” creating a powerful posthumous duet. The “American Idol” judge says the project has been a dream come true, giving fans a chance to rediscover one of country music’s most cherished songs.
An Especially Meaningful Project for the ‘American Idol’ Judge
Bryan recorded this new version of the song featuring Seals, and it will begin streaming on Friday, September 12. This new song happens to be a sentimental duet that is very meaningful for the “Idol” judge.
Bryan told iHeartCountry, “When I think of all-time iconic songs, this one definitely comes top of mind. Dan was an artist I had on repeat and actually still do. I sang this song when I was back in Georgia, and now to be here and paired with him on this new release is just unbelievable.”
Fans & Fellow Singers Show Their Excitement
“Everything That Glitters” is part of a bigger duet project that Bryan is working on with Melody Place Records. It seems like Bryan’s fans and fellow country singers are beyond excited about the new song release.
Country singer Terri Clark wrote, “❤️❤️ One of the best songs ever written or recorded.”
One fan commented, “A collab I didnt know I needed! Can’t wait! Pre-saved!” Another user wrote, “So glad this song is gonna see the limelight again,” while another person added, “Great Song. Thanks for bringing it back.”
Dan Seals, A Country Legend
For those unfamiliar with Dan Seals, he was a country and soft rock artist. He was better known by the name England Dan early in his career.
He eventually made the shift to country music on a full-time basis. This is when he released hits like “Big Wheels in the Moonlight,” “Addicted,” and “Love On Arrival.”
Seals battled mantle cell lymphoma and passed away in March 2009. Seals left behind his wife, Andrea Seals, and four children: Holley, Jesse, Jeremy, and Jimmy.
While it has been 16 years since his passing, Bryan’s duet with this country legend is a great way to not only keep his memory alive, but also his music. Seals may be gone, but his music is clearly leaving an impact on people to this day, decades later.
