Luke Bryan has kicked off 2026 with a new season of “American Idol” and a powerful new duet, released on February 6, 2026. The country superstar says he didn’t hesitate to join rising star George Birge on his song “Ride, Ride, Ride” — a powerful ode to the cowboy in everyone.
Luke Bryan Loved ‘Ride, Ride, Ride’ the Moment He Heard It
Birge, whose breakout hit “Mind On You” reached number one on the country charts in January 2024, spent part of 2025 on tour with Bryan, getting to know the country superstar and opening for him on the road.
“I’ve respected Luke Bryan’s career for a long time,” Birge said in a statement. “It’s still crazy to me that I get to call him a mentor and a friend, and when I wrote this song, I knew I had to ask him to be a part of it. It’s an honor to share this one with him, and it’s a message I think a lot of people could use right now.”
The two teased their new collaboration in a social media video a week before its release, with Birge seen nervously texting Bryan, asking him to join him on the song — only for the camera to reveal Bryan was sitting right next to him.
Bryan said in a statement that he was happy to be part of the song — co-written by Birge, Tyler Hubbard, Casey Brown, and Parker Welling — and noted that he fell in love with it the moment he heard it.
“George was on the road with me last year and we were catching up after a show one night,” he recalled. “I asked him to play me a song and he played this one. I loved the message and just thought he and the other writers had knocked it out of the park.”
Bryan continued, “The next morning he asked me if I wanted to be on the song with him and I honestly didn’t even hesitate. These are the kinds of moments that make me excited and I am proud to be a part of it.”
Luke Bryan Sings Powerful Lyrics in ‘Ride, Ride, Ride’
An official description of “Ride, Ride, Ride,” says the song “starts out with its protagonist seeking to drown his sorrows and numb his pain,” but that “the story soon takes a turn as the cowboy shares what he’s learned from decades of hard living. …With its gut-punching message of gritty resilience, the result is an unforgettable anthem that forgoes false optimism in favor of soul-saving truth.”
Bryan sings harmonies on the chorus and takes lead vocals on the second stanza, singing, “He bought me a round, said I know you’re down bad / But it’s darkest before the daylight / May not have the buckle, might not wear the hat / But we all got a cowboy inside / You’ll be high on the horse, then hitting the wall / Half of the living is risking the fall”
The “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” crooner is joined by Birge on the chorus, singing, “But it’s worth the Ride, ride, ride / When the clouds rollin’ in ’til the sun’s back again / And you find, find, find / That what you’re made of is barbed wire tough / Stare down the storm, bring on the rain / Life will throw you off boy, but saddle up anyway / And ride, ride, ride”
If the song does well, there’s a good chance Birge could wind up performing with Bryan on “American Idol,” given that the show frequently brings in the judges’ collaborators. During the 2025 finale, Carrie Underwood was joined onstage by Cody Johnson to sing their hit, “I’m Gonna Love You,” and top five contestant Slater Nalley got to sing with them.
