It was Disney Night on “American Idol” season 24 tonight on ABC. The Top 9 on “American Idol” 2026 were taking on some of your favorite Disney songs from some of your favorite Disney movies. Keyla Richardson has been shining bright this season, and I was beyond excited to see what she was going to pull out for this Disney Night performance on “American Idol” 2026. Last Week on ‘American Idol’ Season 24
For this performance last week on “American Idol” season 24, it was beyond great. Keyla definitely took us to church. For this performance, especially, I just heard a lot of Fantasia Barrino. It’s wild! And it’s definitely not a bad thing, as Fantasia won! She brought out the emotion and made us all feel everything during the performance.
For the judges, Luke said he’s never seen her take it to that level. Lionel said let the congregation say, Amen! Carrie said that it was absolutely amazing.
Disney Night on Idol
She had a blast going to Disneyland with her son. She said she is a big fan of Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer also sang this song during her season. She said this is the blueprint setting her up for life. It was a game-changing moment for Jennifer, so she is hoping for the same for Keyla.
For her performance, she sings “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King.” I was expecting this one to be downright amazing. In fact, I was a little disappointed. The ending was strong, but I felt like Keyla was talking more than singing at the beginning. I was underwhelmed. Again, the ending was very strong, but the beginning just wasn’t doing it for me. I was expecting more, and it just felt like a disconnect.
For the judges, it was a standing ovation. Jennifer whipped her shoe at Keyla! Carrie said what they said (talking about the audience screaming). Jennifer said this song is like a testimony, and she sang it like a testimony. She said I hope it does the same for you as it did for me because she just did that. Luke said great job, great performance, great look, great everything. Lionel said he can only summarize it one way: let the congregation say amen.
